Clean Install - Clearing out Revit Updates

That are a number of Revit Updates applied to several machines. These do not have an uninstall option like the AutoCAD ones do.

Previously when these have been left behind after uninstalling Revit, I have simply hacked the registry to remove their entry from Installed Updates.

Is there a better, more eloquent way to uninstall these in order to come to a 'clean install' per Autodesk?

Hello @mdhutchinson

You can uninstall these updates with the MSfixit tool, using a slightly different method.

Uninstall with the MsfixitTool with a product code

  1. Find the Product Code by searching for it, copy it

  1. Use the MSfixitTool to uninstall a product
  2. Select the "Not Listed" and enter the Product Code

Let us know how this turns out. Smiley Happy

So, I did your recommended procedure...

... and the FixItTool appeared to show positive outcome. However refreshing Programs and Features... showed they were still there.

I've use FixItTool before, but never in this way.

What is it that I am missing?

Hello @mdhutchinson

It seems as though you are doing everything properly. My guess would be that something on the system is preventing you from uninstalling altogether.

Please review this Microsoft support post, Lack sufficient access to uninstall.

Could it be that I should have done MsFixIt first before the main software?
I know it is not sufficient permissions as you indicated.
One thing I did try.. I pasted the UninstallString from the registry to a dos Cmd prompt. It Executed but threw an error indicating it was only for installed Programs.
At any rate, I just resorted to deleting the registry keys relating to the Revit updates, refreshed Installed Updates and the entries disappeared as I wanted.
However, I don’t fully understand why Autodesk doesn’t provide an uninstall for the Revit updates like they do the AutoCAD, and it’s vertical products.
