Hello,
Is it absolutely necessary to return a borrowed network license prior to changing the license type to single user?

Eric

If it's borrowed and you need it .. then yes, return it and then reset the license type to Sign In / Single - User.
Otherwise it might just hang out there. The Server doesn't know it's been released...
Michael,
Thank you for the response. This is for a large scale migration (150 users) so my concern is more on any access issues for the user once IT switches them over. If there's still a borrowed license hanging out there, would that cause issues for their new single user access? Or would it be a license compliance issue?
Regards,
Eric
It could end up being a compliance issue if the license was borrowed for an extended period of time beyond the typical 30-day allowance of crossover. Are you retiring the NLM? Or are you just moving some off the network license and onto named users? You get a grace period but you don't want to abuse it.
Travis,
The NLM will be retired eventually. This is a complete transition to named user. Thanks for the information. I think that's all I need at this point. We'll plan on making sure all licenses are returned prior to the switch to avoid issues.
Regards,
Eric
Glad to hear. I have a script in my signature line hot button issues that can help streamline moving to named users from other licensed installs.
Good Luck!
