Cant install Autodesk Advance Steel 2022 Object Enabler

Hello,

we are using the DWG TrueView 2022 and some of our Users cant view some details in the drawings. We checked why and saw that the Autodesk Advance Steel 2022 Object Enabler has to be installed to view these details, now if i try to install  Autodesk Advance Steel 2022 Object Enabler i always get the same error that says Advanced Steel Object Enabler has to be installed. 

I checked the Downloadpage for 2021 and 2022, the installer 2021 was round about 450 MB while the 2022 installer is only 35 MB big, does somebody know if this is intended and had someone else gotten this Error?

While you wait... The error message is quite specific: the programs it requires are not installed on the PC in question. It could also mean that 2022 viewer is not active, was not run, or is not present at all, or it is not supported.

I do not use DTV2022 (still on DTV2020 and see no need to upgrade) but this 35MB Enabler installs just fine for me in AutoCAD2022 and I am able to see AS content with it with no issues. I doubt file size is the problem.

We have DWG TrueView 2022 installed, AutoCAD2022 isn't installed since we just need to look at the Files. Does AutoCAD have to be installed so we can install the Object enabler for DWG TrueView?

DWGTRUEVIEW is not a supported software for the remaining OEs, so this must be one of them.
Like I wrote earlier, the error message you received is quite specific about the problem.

Advance Steel Object Enabler 2020 worked with TrueView 2020.
Advance Steel Object Enabler 2022 does not work with TrueView 2022.

So there is NO Autodesk Advance Steel 2022-viewer for free!

And there is NO IFC 4.0-Export (only 2x3) for Autodesk Advance Steel. So also IFC-export to view it with an IFC-viewer is no option.

With Trimble Tekla you have both: IFC4-Export + free viewer for their 3d-models.

@lamstahl Autodesk is moving away from non-cloud based viewers from what I can observe (and in their actions to date). You'll have to search for 3rd party vendors that want to commit to offering free or low cost alternatives.

It is still working. Not out of the box, but with a few modifications.

I extracted with 7-Zip the msi from the "Advance_Steel_2022_Object_Enabler.exe" file and installed it directly.

Then added manually the registry keys for "demand loading" in TrueView 2022. That's all.

Does not work for me.

What I have:
- Win 11 Pro
- Autodesk DWG-Trueview 2022 English
- no other Autodesk-products installed, no special antivirus (win defender only)

What I did:
Advance_Steel_2022_Object_Enabler -> ... 7Zip -> Extract to "Advance_Steel_2022_Object_Enabler"

In the new folder is the following data:
- SetupRes (folder)
- x64 (folder)
- setup.exe
- setup.xml

- oben "Setup exe" does not work ("Required product not found")

Then opened...
- folder "x64" -> "AdvanceSteelObjects" -> AdvanceSteelObjects.msi ... open with windows installer ... "You cannot install Advance Steel Object Enabler 2022 by double-clicking this file. Please run Setup.exe"

Then opened...

- folder "x64" -> ... -> ADVS Objects 2022 -> Setup -> SetupRes --- eval.msi -> Welcome to the CondEval Installation Wizard" -> Enter "Full Name" and "Orga" -> nextnextnext -> Please wait while the installer determines your disc space requirements..." -> ... wait für 10min ... nothing Taskmanager/Windows installer 0%.

Btw.: FreeDiskspace is 136GB on SSD!

No other msi in the folders.

I am more and more frustrated with Autodesk-products. More expensive every year and so many problems. Not only in this case.

Have you ever tried bimvision-ifc-viewer? So much better than Autodesk TrueView and Autodesk online-viewer. Also if you compare it by using it on a Windows-tablet. But AdvanceSteel can not export IFC 4.0. So bimvision is no option in this case. As I said -  frustrated.

If you have to distribute to many pc's just create a transformation and apply to AS2022 enabler during the install. It is also possible to include this enabler in the TrueView package.

Everything is possible if you know how
