Autodesk Installer Error Report

Hi,

I am trying to download the free student version of revit either 2019 or 2020 version. I have signed in to my account and selected the file format downloaded the installer and received my email containing my license details. However whenever I try to install the program the installer instantly fails and I get the error report. I am trying to install on to windows 10 home.

Not sure why it won't work, I have tried it several times and am getting the same result.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I had the same issue with Maya Student 2019 yesterday, and finally found a solution that worked for me: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/maya-2019-crashes-upon-installation/m-p/8988504#M227593

Here were my steps (just pretend Maya says Revit, lol):

1. Download the license service (I guess this is new? I've never had to download this prior to installation of other Autodesk products).

Link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-licensing-service-update-for-2020-product-versions.html

(^ btw, not sure if this step is/was necessary, since our software is 2019, but you'll probably eventually need it regardless when our software gets upgraded to 2020)

2. Since there is no "Download Now" or "Browser Download" option available for the Student version of Maya, only "Install Now", I had to go to ava.autodesk.com, click "Download Autodesk Products", make sure I selected "No" to trying the beta download experience (as that just redirected me to the Student page for Maya), typed "Maya 2019", selected "I am a student or educator", and although it said it recommended I download my product through the educational community, it still gave me the option "Continue to download in AVA", and then I was able to click "Browser Download".

3. Then follow the installation process as normal and input your student serial number.

Hope this also solves your issue!

Thanks for sharing your success but wanted to add to your information..

For product lines 2017-2019, say no to beta experience.  For 2020, say yes.   Not every 2020 product line is under the non-beta experience side of it.

In addition (and you didn't hear this from me 😃) just indicate you are a paying customer and have an existing license when going through AVA..   I know you may not but take those steps to bypass questions that really can get you in a loop and right back to where you starting with the install now option...

Hi! Just from personal experience, I find it best practice to avoid beta systems until they hit final release, but that's just a personal preference. Regardless, the OP stated they were downloading either the 2019 or 2020 release, so in either situation I don't find it to be a bad idea to install the updated licensing manager since eventually they may upgrade to 2020 even if they initially decide against it.

Also, in AVA, selecting "I'm a paying customer" still requires the same amount of clicks as selecting "I'm a student", so might as well be truthful in that regard. 😁

No problem..  They may have changed it again, the prompts in AVA...  When you stated you were a student you went right back to the same spot and right back to the install now aspect..

For the beta..  Its just the new look for the upcoming AVA.  When you get to the 2020 product line, a lot of them are not in the current one and that's why I always recommend the beta experience for accessing the 2020 product line.

And installing ahead of time the new 2020 licensing mechanism is okay but the time someone rolls around to install the 2020 product, most likely the version has changed again..  😁    Have a great week.
