I am using a computer from a co-worker (who had used the autocad on the computer successfully) and I am trying to use AutoCad LT 2017. However it keeps asking to sign in as a different user and "Contact your system administrator to use this product", even after I created an account and logged in. I tried activating if I retype in the serial number and going through the hoops, but it keeps doing the same thing.
I had a chat with a tech they said I had to be added to a user group from someone on my company side to use the software even though the license is on the computer. Is this true? It sounds too much hoops to jump through to me.

You have a term based subscription and activation is done through your Autodesk ID. At this point the application is not assigned to your Autodesk ID/named account. Which means the contract manger for your subscription needs to log into their account, un-assign the product from the other account and then assign it to your Autodesk ID. Do you know who the contract manager is for your subscription?
So what the tech told you is correct..
