This is a technical problem involving the loss of my personal AutoCad license. I apologize that I have to explain the background, so please bear with me. I need your advice.
I am a disabled veteran from the Vietnam era. I was shot through the right knee. After my Marine Corps experience I became a Mechanical Engineer. Most of my career was in new product development. I started using AutoCad in the early 1980s when it was Dos based. As a manager I bought probably 500 seats and created many new industrial products. I loved being able to take a concept to production.
In my late fifties I started to have serious problems and was diagnosed with serious PTSD. The PTSD had not become a serious impediment in my life until then but it always interrupted my thinking. I became increasingly angry and argumentative. I was no longer employable and lost the greatest job I ever had. As part of my therapy (which helped enormously) he Veteran's Administration (VA) purchased a seat of AutoCad. It was extremely therapeutic. Here is the technical issue.
When AutoDesk started destroying the "perpetual" license my licence disappeared. Could no longer access it. I contacted on Autodesk - no help. I contacted the VA - no help. Finally a friend found out that the VA had taking the license as one of their own. Because the original license had been purchased using the VA's name because the original license had been purchased using the VA's name (although it was bought connected to my name). Because licenses were server-based they assumed it into their system as just another license. I no longer was able to access my license.
Can anyone tell me how I can access that AutoCAD license? I really miss the AutoCAD. I really miss the therapeutic value of drawing something creatively and concentrating for long periods of time on something I love to do.
If somehow I did something stupid and you want to beat me up for it, well I can't wait. I would consider that helpful if it included someway to get through their server to be able to get the license back in my name. You would think that it would be as simple as asking the AutoCAD or asking the VA to return the license to me. Nobody there will help.
I look forward to any comments
Most sincerely, Dave
