3ds Max will not open due to Licensing Error

I recently downloaded and installed a 3 year student license version of Autodesk 3ds Max 2015. However, whenever I try to open it, I am blocked with this message:

Followed by:

I consulted Autodesk Help on Twitter, who told me I should have a standalone license, suggesting I try this link:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD...

The steps on this link told me:

  1. Access the Windows Run box.
  2. Type Services.msc and press Enter.
  3. Search for FLEXnet Licensing Service or FLEXnet Licensing Service 64.
  4. Make sure the services are started and running.

I checked my services, but FLEXnet Licensing Service was absent from the list. I do not have it on my computer. (For future reference, it is still absent from the list at present) I went back to Autodesk Help and they linked me here:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Latest-...

I followed this link to here where I could install the licensing manager on Windows 64 bit:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-ipv6-n...

The only result of trying to install this was this box appeared, which promptly loaded and disappeared. No effect.

Going back to Autodesk Help, I was told that I might have installed my License Manager as a Network version instead of a Standalone. So I went back and re-installed the program, being told that I should be given a choice between Network or Standalone, as shown in this video I was linked to:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/installation-activation-licensing/install-configure/s...

I realised when I started up the installation that I had not installed the tools and utilities half of the program the first time:

But when I opened it up, I wasn't given a choice of Network or Standalone; I was restricted to installing Network:

As can be seen above, I decided to install it anyway. Since doing so, I've had access to a LMTOOLS Utility Desktop icon, though I don't know what it's for. I've tried opening 3ds Max, but I still encounter the same message and the same problem. I've retraced my steps and tried reinstalling the licensing manager from the link earlier, but nothing's improved.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I don't have much time left to get this program running. Thank you.

Jack.

I checked, but there was no .log file:

There wasn't one in the folders either.

Can you uninstall it and re-download Max as a browser download from the Virtual Agent on http://upandready.typepad.com?

I tried it. It didn't work, but I do feel like I came closer than before. At least when I tried to install it this time, it did give me a choice of which license manager I wanted and even asked for my serial number.

However, when I actually tried to install it, it spent all of five seconds working on it before presenting me with these results:

I have attempted this twice. Same results. It wouldn't tell me why these products failed to install.

In the meantime, this isn't as urgent for me to complete this now since I recently managed to get this program working on another computer. All the same, it'd be a lot easier if I could get it working on my laptop.
