3ds Max 2017 Application Error

Anonymous

Hello, first of all ignore the name, just use my name Brendan thanks, anyway when I start 3ds max 2017, this error pops up and then it forces 3ds max 2017 to shut down on me (1st screenshot). I do not know the specific error but I think it might have to do something with the script that is on the top left of the screen? The script is called px_unitchanges.ms. I've token another screenshot where it said "Maxscript Autoload Script Error" for the 3rd but I don't know if that'll help. 2nd image shows my PC system. I'm using a windows 10 laptop. I recently got into modeling so if possible I would like a fix for this error as this is the only error standing in my way before I can start modeling. Thanks!

Hello Brendan,

Thank you for the images and description here.  I have attached a new .ms for you in case yours was somehow corrupted.  This is related to MassFx.  Did you by any chance install any scripts or plugins recently that deal with physics?  (rayfire, pulldownit, volumebreaker, etc.)   Is this a fresh installation?

Best Regards,

Hello, first of all thanks for replying to my post. I've downloaded ur zip and have replaced px_unitchanges.ms under the file (MaxFx). Unfortunately I'm still experiencing the same error after downloading and using ur zip file (Screenshot 730) the script on the top left still says px_unitchanges.ms if you're wondering. To answer ur previous question I do believe I didn't install any scripts or plugins that dealt with physics as I've searched for rayfire, pulldownit and volumebreaker on my desktop and no results appeared. About the fresh installation, I've installed 3ds max 2017 on your website via the option "Install Now" if this helps I've only installed the required parts of 3ds max 2017 as on (Screenshot 724) I don't have backburner, inventor service engine etc installed. I've also have not installed any of the service packs. Screenshot 745 shows my current updates.

Hello @Anonymous,

I am happy to help you and I want to see your problem resolved!  Thank you for your politeness.

I see, so this is a fresh installation and nothing has been added.  Thank you for the details and information.  Would you please install the service pack 2 before we continue?  I'd like to see if it does address this issue as a lot of fixes are included within.  Thank you very much for doing that and please keep me posted.

Good evening, I appreciate the time you're spending to help me solve my application error with 3ds max 2017. I've installed 3dsmax 2017 service pack 2 (Screenshot 746) and Screenshot 747 was my attempt after I've installed Service Pack 2. Unfortunately my application error still hasn't been fixed. Thanks for sticking with me. Also like the last 2 replies the top left still says px_unitchange.ms

Hello Brendan,

There does seem to be an installation problem here.  I have no notes on this error in the bug tracker, so I think it's related to the installation.  I'm going to move this thread to Installation and Licensing forum where you can get more specialized help with installation issues.

Hello @Anonymous,

I just wanted to follow up here, any progress on your issue?   If no one has contacted you I'll help you from this forum.  My first suggestion is to reinstall the application, if you have no plugins and still getting this error something must have gone wrong.  You might also error check your hard drive to see if it has any bad sectors.  Would you mind doing that for me please?

When you reinstall 3ds Max, please check all the additional content if your drive has space, I'd like to eliminate all possible sources for errors.

Best Regards,

Hello

I had also a same issue and after making a clean uninstall I got the same error, What I did in my case that solve my issue was to uninstall all the .NET from my control panel and reinstall it from the main 3ds MAx 3 party folder C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_3ds_Max_2018_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit\3rdParty\NET

Hope these helps to solve your issue
