3Ds Max 2016 on Windows 10 installation problem

[Anonymous]

Hi everybody, 4 days ago i have updated my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 10 Home 64 bit, i've tried to install 3ds max 2016 english for windows 64 bit in both the three ways available (install now, download now, browser download), but in both cases the installation ends with a message of error and nothing is installed. In the 'Install Now' option, i start the installation and after some times the installation ends with 'Installation has completed' with three red X in 3ds max components (errors). In the Download Now, i start the setup downloaded, it loads and nothing opens. In the Browser Download, i download the setup (about 2 GB), i start the setup and an error appears: 'One or more files are missing'. I upgraded to Windows 10 with almost complete certainty that a giant like 3ds max was supported (as are all other supported graphic programs). What's going on? I can not really install 3ds max only for Windows 10? How long will I wait for Windows 10 support? Thanks ahead.

Click on the link to the right of your post titled "Windows 10 Support". I might add you probably should have clicked on that link before upgrading to Win10. Good Luck.

For more reasons, to be honest,  i don't want to rollback to windows 7 only for 3ds max, anyone knows when 3ds max will be supported in windows 10?

The kernel is almost equal to windows 7 and the major variety of programs work as expected, also, if you had installed 3ds max in windows 7 and after updated to windows 10 you can use 3ds max as expected..

It's only an installation problem (regard to .NET framework version i think), how many times i have to wait for this?

[ampster40]

you'll need to wait until Autodesk says it's good to go - or go at this on your own for now like everybody else who jumped off that cliff. Blame M$ for leading everybody to believe "your software is compatible with Windows 10"....Autodesk did not make that statement. If you want to stick with Win10, best you can do for now is search the web till your keyboard melts and you by chance find others with similar issue/s. Perhaps a few posts going back and forth regarding any issue may eventually be solved by the end users. Venting here doesn't solve anything. Good Luck.

Hi
I installed Win 10 from a Boot disc, not using the Windows Update.
I have a HP ZBook 17", HD 500GB, RAM 16GB, Nvidia Quadro K610M, Core i7-4700MQ.
When using Windows 8 and upgrade to 8.1, I had the same problem , my Autodesk applications stopped working.
Maybe you need to do this, install Win 10 from a boot dvd.

Sorry I forgot to mention actually I am using 3ds Max 2016

[Anonymous]

By now, i've solved the problem, anyway i had installed Windows 10 from a Boot disk after upgrading.

I solved my problem installing Maya 2016 and after 3Ds Max 2016. 🙂

[Anonymous]

You installed 3ds Max 2016 and updated your Windows to version 10?.

If you installed Windows 10 and later you installed 3ds Max 2016 , check you have all the appropriate service pack:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-3ds-max-201...

And regarding the iconoes and font type that are small , check this on Windows:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/make-text-screen-larger-smaller/?v=t

• Choose Start Control Panel.
• On the Control Panel explorer, click Ease Of Access.
• On the Ease Of Access page, click Ease Of Access Center Optimize Visual Display.
• On the Make The Computer Easier To See page, click Make Things On The Screen Larger Change The Size Of Text And Icons.
• On the Make It Easier To Read What's On Your Screen, choose Medium - 125% (Default).
• Click Apply.
• Reboot the system as prompted.

I hope the information will help with your problem.

Welcome to the community..

Same problem as what?  I read the other postings and there seems to be a couple of them here..  So I don't know which problem you have, give us details...

[Anonymous]

@Anonymous

Once again not enough details..  Same error message????  What does that mean or what does the error message actually state?  Attach a screen shot showing the message.

Each installation is different and you may have a totally different problem than the original poster.   I'm trying to assist you but its kind of hard to do so when you're only providing a limited amount of information.

[Anonymous]

Yes, same problem for me too!

@Anonymous

Welcome to the community and hopefully my (or someone else) reply will be beneficially to you.

As a reminder, this is a world wide (public) user forum where users are assisting others. In addition do not post, attach screen shots, or share any personal information (such as your serial #) here.

Same problem as what?   As I indicated earlier in my response the original poster had a couple of issues.  Give us details.  A response of same problem is way too generic.

Review the verbiage below the line/above my signature and follow those steps to download and install your application.

[Anonymous]

OS: Windows 10 64 bit

Product: Student Edition 3DS Max 2016 (also occurs with 2015 and 2017)

After downloading and installing 3DS Max, I cannot run the software. I get a 0xc000007b error: "the software could not start correctly."

App Manager also fails to install, though I can install it on its own.

Reinstalling, restarting, cleaning the registry, running as admin, etc, have not worked. I have activated older .NET packages under Programs and Features. Nothing.

Windows logs are not informative about what's not working, and the Autodesk installation logs show no issues except the app manager.

Please help.

I found some issues with Version 2016 on Win 10.

And even without having tried the 2017 version , I recommend you wait to have the 2017 version , and install it on Win 10.

I do not what happen but For Example, some Boolean operatos does not work correctly on Win 10, but in Win 7/8/8.1 it works fine, and I have installed SP3 with Extension 2.
