3Ds Max 2015 in LINUX

Dear all

I have been using 3DS MAX 2015.

I have the access to high performance computer (HPC) which belongs to our company. But HPC supports only LINUX.

I have windows version of 3ds max. For rendering I/m using the same workstation and the specs are  - Dell T7500  - 12 GB RAM - Quadra 2000 - Xenon (R) 2 processors. Which takes long time for rendering a high resolution image..say more than 6 or 7 minutes. The HPC Team suggest to have NVIDIA TITAN X. (10 times faster)

Can anyone sussgest me 3ds max with LINUX and HPC (or) 3ds max with NVIDIA TITAN X

Thanks

Thiyagu

Hi Ryan-

Thanks for your response.

I understand. I Just sharing my perspective and issue.

We have Lightwave 3D and 3DS Max. We need to render large industrial animation projects. Rendering time would be more than 150 hours per project with 3 local nodes shared. Lightwave 3d rendering is normal time that we can agree based on the inbuilt rendering system.

In case of 3DS Max, for a single frame it need more than 4 or7 minutes for a high resolution image. Like that we render more than 7000 frames per project. The client and marketing guys need to show the proposals with the scheduled time. So we do the projects with Lightwave 3d (Newtek) because of its reliability and guaranteed output image sequence based on our previous assignments.

Coming to 3DS Max some of the animations are handy and very much suitable for our work except rendering.
We don't have a separate renderer or plugin. Now we decided to have one renderer..VRay or Octane (or...which is the best overall?)
And that should support both the animation software 3DS Max and Lightwave 3d. I heard VRay is the best suitable for 3DS Max works. We also need some training to make textures and scene with the external render plugin.

I need your suggestion which is valuable for work flow.

Thanks
