What is adSSO.exe ?

Hi, each time I open max, there is several adSSO.exe processus, which slowdown max.

I need to kill them, but they come back...

Any idea AD ?

Is it for reporting errors ?

Is it possible to trash the whole "Autodesk AdSSO" folder without having problems with max ?

I can't tell you that there won't be any side effects of deleting all traces of adSSO, but it does seem abnormal that its launching so many parallel processes and bogging your system down. May I ask that you post this question over in the installation and licensing forum?

I transferred this post to the I&L forum, perhaps @natasha.l or @Mark.Lancaster can provide some further insights to this question!

Hello @Anonymous,

This is a old post that I would like to provide a response.

Autodesk has used ADSSO since 2016 the latest updates  have helped resolve the "instances" issue mentioned in the original post above. It stands for Active Directory Single Sign On service. We refer to it as AdSSO it is a part of our licensing technology, it is a requirement for Desktop Licensing & is included in our product installers.

It is an authentication scheme that allows a user to login with a single ID and password & gain access to a system or platform. It also includes a directory service that provides network administration and security of our software.

Autodesk also provides advanced Enterprise SSO(Premium Plan) which enables users to login to Autodesk services with enterprise credentials, it recognizes your organisation based on email address, and redirects you to your company login page.

Hello,

I am having a similar issue to the original poster. AdSSO appearing in the task manager at start up, Revit just hanging on the splash screen.

Our company use Windows App-V to run software. Could this have something to do with it?

Many thanks,

Mat

I also notice this happens to our computers. We have had to go as far as to reinstall Revit a few times when things lock up. We never had this problem when we had standalone licensing. If you ask me the problem is your new licensing features. Let's start looking at those and maybe we can resolve the problem. It would be nice if you didn't make the life of those of us paying for your software so hard!

Agree!  I'm getting multiple instances of this running in AutoCAD 2020 so apparently that wasn't fixed after all.

Yes we do but my comment was incorrect on that point.  I'm getting multiple instances of Google security update running within AutoCAD and I confused the two when replying.  Oops.  Thanks for your reply.

is it possible to run the latest version of adSSO and use it with AutoCAD 2017?   Due to a dependency with another application, I'm not able to run newer AutoCAD versions, and it appears AutoCAD 2017 should work with Enterprise SSO, but for me Azure is showing failures due to Device Authentication requirement.

What I'm wondering is, if I upgrade to the latest adSSO, will it resolve my problem?
