Student License Unable to Access Generative Design Workspace

I recently saw the news that Autodesk had decided to start including generative design access in the student version of fusion 360. I have been incredibly eager to experiment with this groundbreaking technology so this was a huge deal for me. I read on the announcement page that only users with .edu email addresses would get the update so I promptly updated my account to use my educational email. My account now shows a student license for generative design however the actual workspace is entirely absent from my install of fusion. I've tried doing a clean install however this did not solve the issue. Has anyone encountered this problem? And, if so, has anybody found a solution?

Hey Curtis-geffner,

I'll bring this to the attention of the development team, but in the meantime I'd suggest uninstalling F360 and doing a fresh installation. My gut tells me this might solve your problem.

Thank you for the speedy response. I have already tried doing a clean install and using alternate computers. I booted up fusion on my old macbook and interestingly enough the generative workspace was present. I was not even aware generative was available for mac users. As a temporary solution I can use this computer but it struggles with large assemblies so I would love to figure out why it isn't working on my desktop pc.

@Anonymous A reinstall is needed for most users, generative design is free until the end of December so have fun with that. Also make sure generative design appears in http://manage.autodesk.com/

Generative design does show up on my account page. I have tried reinstalling multiple times on multiple computers to no avail. Unless there was an update in the few days it's been since my last reinstall attempt I don't expect that to solve the issue.

Uninstall

Run MSFixit :https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-instal...

Then reinstall
