Sheerid school approval process duration?

Hello, my school has been using the autodesk inventor educational license for several years now, and this year we switched to fusion 360.  All of sudden without any sort of warning,  it states that my fusion 360 software has expired.  Now, in the middle of the semester I am literally unable to teach my students.  When I tried to reach out to Autodesk for support, they directed me to sheerid.com; and that was pretty much the extent of their support.  No process to follow, no further advice; just a link.  So, I navigated to their vague website, and, for some reason, sheerid.com did not have our school on file.   Considering this, I had to re-apply to get our school approved for autodesk software; and based on what they say, it could be up to seven days for my school to be approved or verified, and even then, they make no guarantees that my school will get approved.  I get the need for a more robust approval process, but, when you are in the middle of a semester teaching several CAD/CAM courses, 7 days is  a long time.  And even after my school gets approval (assuming I do), I believe, I  need to go though another approval process to verify that I am in fact an educator.  I reached our to autodesk again to see if I could obtain any sort of temporary access to fusion 360, but they just sent me a link to Sheerid's customer support.  I proceeded to contact sheerid's customer support and after waiting two days, they finally contacted me with no answers or help with regard to my situation.  So with no help from autodesk or sheerid's customer support i came to this forum to see how long this whole process takes; as I am literally unable to teach until I can obtain educational access to fusion 360.  So, my question is, for those of you who teach with autodesk software, how long did it take for you go through the tedious sheerid process of getting your educational institution verified and finally gain educational access to software?

1-4 weeks based on feedback from others like you who decided to post here: remember, you and every school on the planet are doing the remote-thing this fall, SheerID are simply swamped and they just can't seem to train/add staff fast enough to handle the onslaught.

FYI, EDU validation is now annual, so plan ahead for next year.

Good luck.

1 week is tolerable, but 4 weeks is unacceptable when you have a class to
teach. I get that they are swamped, but in the meantime my students
suffer. Moreover, I would still be going through the same process even if
my students are here in class, makes no difference; and, I am sure it is
the same for other schools. It is also disappointing that I received no
warning that my software was going to expire so I could have anticipated
and prepared for this situation. I think the 3rd party verification method
you have embraced is extremely inefficient. Perhaps it is time to look
into mastercam.

I'm not Autodesk, no one here is Autodesk unless their signature says so (rarely happens), we are end users (aka customers) helping each others out. I get your frustration, I was simply helping you out with an answer to your original question.

AFAIK there is no email sent to that effect, its free software after all, there is no incentive for Autodesk to remind you not to spend any money: you need to track these things yourself on your calendar to renew annually, you know, like you do for all important things in your life and career 🙂

Its always an option, and would probably help your students get exposed to variety so they don't become push-a-button CAD users who don't understand design concepts.

Good luck.
