Share education network licenses of Moldflow Insight with Students on their personal computers

Hello,

I'm from a University and we have educational licenses of Autodesk software (Network licenses) that we use in our classroom computers.

We have teachers asking us if we (University) can share the licenses that we have in our network license server with students so that they can use the Autodesk Moldflow Insight and Autodesk Moldflow Adviser in their personal computers.

We'll wait for your answer.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Luis

Are they connected to the network?  If so they would just check one out ..

Likely not, since their personal PC's ...    Which means they would need

Or they would need to get their own license from Autodesk to use. ( likely the easier option)

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

The problem isn't the access to the licenses in the personal computers of the students, because they can use a VPN to connect to the University network. They just need an Internet connection.

In the "Terms of use", you say: "You may install copies of the Software You have licensed or subscribed to solely on Electronic Devices owned or controlled by You.": The owner of the personal computers of students are the students and not the University and these computers are not controlled by the University either.

It's the legal questions that we want to clarify with you. Do you allow or not the share of educational licenses in the personal computers of the students, to do academic work (not for commercial work) outside the University, for example at home? They would connect the VPN and access the license server of University to validate the license.

We'll wait for your reply.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Luís

Hi @stic-software-notify,

Have you seen the educational special terms, particularly:

Educational Network License. If the Offering Identification identifies the License Type as “Educational Network,” then an Education User may install copies of the specific release of the Offering designated in the applicable Offering Identification on a single file server computer and access such Offering on multiple computers on a Networked Basis, and permit access to such copies of the Offering solely by Education Users solely for Educational Purposes, only so long as the maximum number of concurrent authorized users does not exceed the permitted number of authorized users specified in the Offering Identification. “Networked Basis” means a computing environment that includes a computer acting as a file server which allows the Offering installed on such computer to be uploaded and installed to, and operated, viewed or otherwise accessed from, other computers through a local area network connection or through a secure virtual private network (VPN) connection employing current industry standard encryption and protection mechanisms.

It's a bit of a chunk and I'm no lawyer.
