Setup Initialization failed

I was using AutoCAD 2018 free trial version. And now it is expired, I uninstall the program and downloaded the installer again. But I'm having an error when installing it "Setup Initialization Failed". I already have my license for AutoCAD 2018.

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community !

Actually, you did not need to install the program, you just needed to convert the Trial version into a Commercial version by activating it with the data you received when you subscribed to AutoCAD 2018.

Maybe you used an expired Install Now link or file set, which might explain why you're getting this error. See the below online solution:

Setup initialization failed. Error downloading. Please Install Now again from the Autodesk website

As mentioned in this article, to install AutoCAD 2018 successfully, you'll need to download it through your Autodesk Account or through our Virtual Agent.

Please try the following offline installers for 2018 AutoCAD. I've had better luck with these daily, then the Install Now option

I would also clean out the %temp% folder too. It's OK if everything doesn't get deleted, we want to get as much as possible.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Although others have given you solutions to your problem..  I just wanted to add the following for your future needs.

Starting with the 2017 product line, there's no need to uninstall the product anymore if your trial expired and needing a license.  All you need to do is perform a license reset per this articleSmiley Wink
