Hello @Anonymous,

Let's verify to see if it is not on the system, it should be located here: C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Revit 2018\x64\RVT\Program Files\Autodesk\Root.

If it is there check all the folder permissions to make sure it is accessible (full control) to run the software properly & make sure you have your antivirus & firewall temporarily disabled during launch.

Thank you for posting & keep us informed.

I eventually found a solution which was to go to properties/compatibility /run program as an administrator

I had seen an idea relating for printing to pdf in revit which suggested this setting, didn't work for printing, however I reverted back- shut down for the night - restarted in the morning only to find my problems. For some reason it needed to be run as administrator.

Thanks for your advice and interest in helping.

I just installed Revit 2020 and have the same problem of not being able to open with the error message. . .

RevitWorker.exe was not found.

Revit cannot launch because it is missing a component. You must reinstall the application.

I checked the file location mentioned above and found no RevitWorker.exe

Please advise.

I am having the same problem with Revit 2020.  Could you please elaborate

your explanation for how you solved the problem, perhaps a step-by-step

list please?  I screwed around with the permissions for Revit.exe,

RevitWorker.exe, and the folder they are both inside of.  I changed every-

thing that I could find to "full control" and ran as an administrator.  I even

tried running RevitWorker.exe before running Revit, all to no avail.  I had

the same problem with 2018 and 2017.

A Windows 10 update in May 2018 crashed my computer to the point where

I had to reinstall the OS and all of my applications.  Before the update, Revit

2017 and earlier versions worked just fine as did AutoCAD.  Since that OS

reinstall, no Autodesk product will work on my computer.  It is an MSI gaming

laptop bought specifically for the 32Gb of memory so that I could run Revit,

AutoCAD, and a browser with dozens of open windows all at the same time.

So I am desperate for any ideas that will enable me to use these software

products again.  I can't even take classes in it to access it as the community

colleges have limited lab hours and when I have time, they are closed.  This

has been most frustrating.

Desperately,

Jan Neff-Sinclair

Even with two plus sessions of technical support from Autodesk (tier 1 & 2), I couldn't get Revit 18 or 20 to open.  Only after a clean reinstallation of Windows 10 (saving my data files and completely wiping the computer of everything), did the reinstallation of Revit work.  It's probably not the solution that you want to hear, but after a year or two, Windows as the main OS gets buggy and infected, and the already delicate working relationship between Autodesk products and Windows can easily come to a screeching halt.  Sometimes, you just need to start fresh, even though it always seems to happen at the most inconvenient time (Murphy's law).

I have the same problem after doing a windows 10 update.  Tried uninstallilng Revit and re-installing, and checking app permissions, but it doesn't fix the problem of Revit not launching due to RevitWorker.exe file missing.....

Autodesk released this fix and it worked for me:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-Re...

It seemed to be a larger Windows issue, nothing to do with Revit itself, and you shouldn't need to reinstall the program.

@kroon   if Windows updates are continuously causing an issue, then maybe someone needs to change something so that the EXE doesn't get corrupted each time... IMHO ...
