Revit 2020 can't start because of "The License manager is not functioning..."

Hello, I recently installed the version of Revit 2020 on my computer and since the first time I've experienced the "The License manager is not fuctioning or is improprerly installed". Before I had a lot of other version on my pc but only the Revit 2016 was working... due to this errors following I tried all the passages written in the website.

At the end also other programs gave me this type of error so I decided to try and follow the "Clean unistall" article to cancel all the autodesk product from the computer and try with a new download.

After this process I downloaded Autocad 2019 and Revit 2020. Autocad didn't give any problem and it's working but Revit is still experiencing the "The License manager is not fuctioning or is improprerly installed" error.

I've wrote that solution for past versions won't work for the 2020 version... what I should do to activete my student license?

Thanks a lot for the patiency, I will wait for help

Firstly have you requested Revit 2020?

If not: https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/revit

Secondly have you updated the licensing mechanism for 2020?

If not: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-licensing-service-updat...

And when you say they aren't working, have you requested the 2020 and received an entitlement or the link to request it is not working?

Have you installed the latest licensing mechanism or does the install fail?

Be more precise please...

I'm a student in a university and I've downloaded the normal 2020 version under the page "https://www.autodesk.it/education/free-educational-software". On that page I've choose download now and I downloaded with autodesk download manager the complete package. At the end I clicked Istall now in the windows that comes at the end of the download. Parallely on my email I received all the code for the activation.

At the end of the process it say "installation complete - Start the app", I click the button and after 20 seconds appear "The License manager ecc ecc error".

I've downladed the latest version of the license program even before and after the revit installatio, manually and also with the autodesk app... but at the end when i try to open revit it gives me every time the same error.

I've tried also to provide a clean installation of all the autodesk programs and after as soon as i re-downloaded and opened Revit 2020 it gave me the same error.

Since it's the licenser throwing out errors, have you reinstalled the licensing mechanism for 2020?

This is the stable one- the newest has been pulled temporarily due to issues: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-licensing-service-updat...

I've tried again and I've noticed that the installation process failed if I'm connected with internet.

To be more specific I've downloaded the package with the "Download Now" option without problems and now I have the complete folder on the computer. If I start the Setup and I'm connected with WI-FI or Ethernet the installetian process froze since the beginnig.

If I'm not connected the installation proceed until the end without problems but when i open the file it says "License manager error".

Now I've tried with the method you've proposed and the installation failed due to error 1603.

So I followed the procedure and I've downloaded AIDA that says to me the attached error.

I can't understand what is saying but maybe could be helpful to clarify some problems behind.

This thread particularly involves error 1603: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/revit-2020-installation-error-1603/td-p/873607...

If I try to Install Revit with the internet connection turned on it froze at the beginning for hours. (I will attach a picture of the point it stops).

If I complete the installation without the internet connection it produces this Installation log file and then when I try to open the up it say "License Manager Error"

If I run AIDA generally exit this file:

I'd suggest to start with a clean slate:

do a full clean uninstall,

use the Microsoft uninstall tool to help get rid of any Autodesk survivors,

clear our the temporary files folder,

then download the installation files via BROWSER DOWNLOAD from your account,

disconnect from the Internet,

temporarily disable your antivirus,

attempt to install Revit.

Does it succeed without errors or does it show some failed components such as the licensing service?

It seems like you have the latest licensing update installed, after installing Revit you could try uninstalling the license service (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\uninstall.exe), then reinstall the latest available version from your Autodesk account or this link. You will need to be connected to the Internet to activate the software.

EDIT: Just saw your latest reply, it looks like you don't have WRITE access to his registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software

Check out this article to remedy that.

And also no WRITE permissions to:

C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
C:\Program Files\Common Files
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

Sorry I am so busy today I knew I'd leave something out while rushing.

This article explains how to remove/reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ libraries:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinst...

For the locations listed below, just right-click on the relevant folder, click on "Properties", go to "Security" tab and you'll have a list of users here.

C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
C:\Program Files\Common Files
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

Looks like 2005 and 2008 are no longer supported, I would remove them and just install all the supported versions from this list:
