On how many computers can a single user license program be installed?

Suppose a company buys a single user Inventor license.
Suppose the company has 10 users (or more) who need the license partially.

Suppose now the following steps are done:
1. in the Autodesk account the license is assigned to user1.
2. user1 installs the software on his 3 computers and then works with the license only on one computer at a time

3. in the Autodesk account the license is assigned to user2 (because user1 does not need the license anymore)
4. user2 installs the software on his 3 computers and then works with the license only on one computer at a time

5. in the Autodesk account the license is assigned to user3 (because user2 does not need the license anymore)
6. user3 installs the software on his 3 computers and then works with the license only on one computer at a time

7. in the Autodesk account ...
...

Is this use of a single user license legal or illegal?
Does this mean that a program can be installed on any number of computers in a company?

Where can I find the answer in the license agreement?
I looked for it, but did not find the answer.

Thank you
Armin

i see this as buying 1 license & sharing it among 3 users which i believe is not allowed

this would also be a nightmare to mange

they would probably tell you to buy a license for each user

I think this is allowed, because you are re-assigning the user in your Autodesk portal.

What is not allowed would be user1 yelling over the cube wall to user 2 -- "Hey my login is [user1] and my password is [password1] - because then you are bypassing the one user assigned to one license rule.

In your scenario, what if you have contract workers that come and go every week or month? You're going to do the same thing. User1 works for two weeks, and leaves, then user2 comes for two weeks. You're going to reassign the license that user1 had to user2, right?

Now multiple that by a few hundred users and you can see why this is insane madness for large companies who have a LOT of part time users. We either have to do a full cost rental for each part time person, or essentially hire someone to manage the license assignments in the portal.

This replaces the network licensing system that has worked fine to do this automatically at no extra cost, for so many customers, for what.... 25+ years? Yeah, frustrating.

Of course I would highly recommend NOT taking the advise of anyone in this forum, and consult with your reseller or someone from Autodesk directly. The last thing you want is for them to Audit you and your only response is "well someone in the forums said it was OK".

Hi Ryan713,

thank you for your answer.
But I didn't write that users should share a license.
I also did not write that users should share their computers.

I wrote that each user (10 or more users) has three own computers and needs the single-user license program only for a certain time.

Therefore, after a certain time, it is assigned to another user.

This is exactly what Autodesk recommends as a replacement for the multi-user licenses that are no longer available.
But the question is how this should be done practically in a company.

Thanks also for the reply from rkmcswain.
I agree with what you wrote.

However, I would also like to have an answer to my question from an Autodesk employee responsible for this.
By the way, an Autodesk employee advised me that I should ask my question here in the forum.

Please, could an Autodesk employee give me an answer to my question?

Thank you very much in advance.

Armin

These are peer-to-peer forums. It's doubtful you will get an Autodesk employee to answer you here. Contact your reseller or contact Autodesk directly for best results.
