ODIS installer issues - input wanted

There was me, thinking the ODIS team at Autodesk surely would know about the issues this 'new' installer has. But just to be sure, I created a service request, asking if there's a time line when those issues are addressed. The reply I got was like 'what problems do you mean'. So I pointed to this forum, but that's not enough. So I would like to compile a list of problems we, as users / system managers, encounter with ODIS. Any input apreciated!

I start with:

  • Installation is slooooooow
  • Bring back the Repair-option
  • Make error messages useful
  • Let the installer create a log file listing any problems found during install and leave out the clutter.
  • Why does the update installer state the product to update is not installed when it most definitely IS installed.
  • When un-installing, ALL of the program should be removed. I.e. there should be no further actions needed to get rid of left-over files or registry keys.
  • When installation is finished, why does the installer occasionally linger on forever without finishing?

I got stuck in an infinite loop updating to the latest Autodesk Licensing Service only yesterday. It finished many times only to figure it needed to be updated shortly after the done message. With help from the landlord's service desk, after some re-installing of some of the helper apps (DTC, ACS), AD Access needed to be run by a user with administrative rights who then erased ACS cache file and folder, after logging in as myself again, ACS behaved as expected.
