There was me, thinking the ODIS team at Autodesk surely would know about the issues this 'new' installer has. But just to be sure, I created a service request, asking if there's a time line when those issues are addressed. The reply I got was like 'what problems do you mean'. So I pointed to this forum, but that's not enough. So I would like to compile a list of problems we, as users / system managers, encounter with ODIS. Any input apreciated!
I start with:
- Installation is slooooooow
- Bring back the Repair-option
- Make error messages useful
- Let the installer create a log file listing any problems found during install and leave out the clutter.
- Why does the update installer state the product to update is not installed when it most definitely IS installed.
- When un-installing, ALL of the program should be removed. I.e. there should be no further actions needed to get rid of left-over files or registry keys.
- When installation is finished, why does the installer occasionally linger on forever without finishing?
