Need Maya 2018 Serial Number (Know # should be, was not given one)

Hello,

I just got a subscription for Maya 2018 and downloaded it but before it lets me do anything, I need to enter a serial number. The problem is I never got one as where the serial number should be it tells me to sign in when I'm in Maya (I was on the student version prior so I know how to sign in) but I can't sign into Maya because Maya won't open without a serial number which I was never given because apparently I just need my Autodesk ID to use my license.

I can't help but express annoyance that now I have to wait for someone on the internet to responded to me when this could have been avoided if serial numbers were given regardless of whether an online Id works (I hate having to rely on the internet to verify things). I've attached screenshots showing I have no serial number as Autodesk support keeps pointing to where serial numbers should be despite me telling them I was never given one. I know where the should be (I keep being told), everywhere the number should be just keeps telling me to sign in which I can't do because I need a number.

Your Accounts page says your software activation is done by signing in when you start the program: I'm not familiar with Maya but in other Autodesk software there is a window that gives you the option to sign-in or select a serial number, did you get that and make the wrong choice perhaps?

That window saying I need a serial number pops up anytime I try to start Maya and Maya won't start/open at all unless I enter a number. I was on the student version so I know which sign in button you are referring to but I need Maya to open first.

Thank you for your reply though.

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome.

Students are always given serial numbers. Did you follow this process outlined here, Steps for Setting-Up Student Software? Grab the serial number from the educational site

You're picking the wrong option

This is what you have:

So you need to change what you're picking:

On Startup pick the Single User:

If you're not seeing this option...reset your license so you can get back to this:

Yes, I did receive a serial number when I was on the educational license. I had bought a monthly subscription and deleted the Autodesk folder on my Mac so I could install the latest version off Autodesk's website.

I tried using my student serial number and it let into the program but even when I signed into Maya once it was open, it did not switch off of the student version. I bought the monthly sub. so I could go commercial, the student version doesn't fit my needs (plus I paid for the software.)

Thank you for your reply though.

I look at those articles but I can not find the folders on my mac that they are referring to such as Library (I know Home), Application support, and so on. I have never been given this start screen, as soon as I click on the Maya icon, I get this prompt (see picture). It won't let me do anything but enter a serial number/product key.

Thank you for your reply though.

Actually,

I searched around some more and was able to find the library folder along with the other folders mentioned. I was able to delete the LGS.data file which reset my license which now I can happily report Maya has opened and my sign-in worked. I am all set. Thank you and everyone who took the time to ponder my dilemma.
