Multiple Single-User AEC Collections / Contracts

So we have multiple contracts that are all AEC Collections on subscription (not perpetual). Multiple Stand alone seats are spread across them, ALL the seats except 1 has an associated - and different Serial Numbers. That 1 seat Activation specifically says Sign in. AND that single seat is on the same Contract together with another AEC Collection that has an associated Serial Number. I have the NAMED USERS assigned accordingly on our user-management page (all on Classic User Management).  Of course it was a pain to get them assigned on the appropriate contract number.

I have traditionally built administrative images on a network share, and have pain painstakingly created each with the correct serial number taking care to note the install links with how many seats are on each... hence, install links named like Rev_SA3    Rev_SA7    Rev_SA3  ... etc. etc.  I know

I can't figure out from your posting if you have an issue or you trying to share a solution...

So, I guess I am asking for clarification concerning Standalone... if I don't need to be sooo concerned any longer with installing using the specific Serial Number taking care to assure I've only installed 7 times -  for a 7 seat serial number, or if I can simply install using, say our network license, then do change license type and do single-user option after the install.  In our case, there are probably nearing 20 serial numbers total - spread across multiple contract numbers... it's a pain to always have to check serial numbers.

So, is the NAME USER assigned the entitlement under a CONTRACT NUMBER sufficient?

It'd be nice is they just went into a single standalone pool.

I always tell people create a single deployment and then worry about the activation afterwards..

It sounds like you manage users for your subscription, is that correct?

If so when you log into your Autodesk Account, under user management do you see any sub-section

1.  NOTHING

2.  BY USER/BY PRODUCT

3.  BY USER/BY PRODUCT/CLASSIC USER MANAGEMENT

Yes, I do manage users.

I never have used anything but Classic User Management.    Except, I guess when we picked up a couple seats on month to month basis to fill a short term need a year ago or so.

I sat in AU session last year and heard about cool changes, (including no more serial numbers),  that I am still waiting to see.

So you are a customer who is "stuck" between the 2 user management interface.   Users in one management are not the same user in the other user management.    Yes the same user account may appear in both user managements that you have but they are 2 separate user accounts with different benefits.

BY USER/BY PRODUCT is associated to users that would be assigned to single user subscription based products that have no serial # assigned to and they just sign in.

CLASSIC USER MANAGEMENT is associated to single and multi-user subscription based product that have a serial # or license file associated.

Perhaps you will want to review the following info

Account migration (may happen to you): https://synergiscadblog.com/2019/08/06/9894/

Are you going to AU this year?  If so there's a lab on Tues about Autodesk Account and some information about Autodesk Account will be hosted in the community area.

so what in the world do you mean by "stuck"?  I wasn't aware there was a choice.

Well your choice is based on how Autodesk assigned your products to you..  WHat you had in the past, what you may purchase in the future and if a given contract was migrated from serial # based to sign in.

Yes the term "stuck" is not really a great word to use but there are two (2) main user management interfaces and you are "stuck" between both of them.

USER MANAGEMENT:   This is classic user management interface, or single user subscription based product that have serial #s assigned to it and its assigned to the user.   This would also include multi-user based product.

USER MANAGEMENT

     BY USER

BY PRODUCT    This is new user management interface or based solely on single user subscription based product that have no serial #s assigned to it.   You assign the use of the product to the user and they just sign in.

Because you are the contract admin or someone who administers your contract or contracts, if a given contract has serial #s for subscription based product and also another contract that has products with the sign in method then your "stuck" between both user management interfaces.

USER MANAGEMENT

     BY USER

     BY PRODUCT

     CLASSIC USER MANAGEMENT
