Did this just start to happen?

Did your autocad start up without problems previously?

Looks like you may need a repair installation of the software.

I had this happen sometimes opening a project. What I've read it is a windows 10 problem. I'd have to shut autocad down with the task manager, end task. What a minute until I was sure it was completely shut down. Restart autocad and try and try again. Sometimes it took 2 or 3 times but most times 1 time did it. I tried restarting my computer too which I'm not sure if that helped more than just ending task on autocad. It hasn't done it in a few months so either windows 10 updated that i fixed it or autocad updated and fixed it. I suggest making sure you have latest patches for autocad and windows and see if that helps.

I did reset my setting back to default and that seemed to have no affect as a first attempt to fix it.  It was annoying but it only did it 1 out of 10 times so I wasted enough time trying to fix it. It kind of just went away then.

Hello @Ajo13,

Welcome, & thank you for posting to the community. You can try to conduct the steps below they are the most common troubleshooting steps for launching issues. Try them in order & test after each step. The last resort is a uninstall & reinstall.

  1. Make sure you have an updated graphics card driver by checking the manufacturer's website (Assign the correct Graphics Card - Step #8)
  2. How to reset to defaults
  3. Check the Operating System needed & the required updates by reviewing the system requirement for the software
  4. Update your product with the latest service pack or Hotfixes by visiting the Autodesk website or account
  5. Locate the install log or Control Panel for Microsoft Visual C++ have properly installed (try repair or uninstall & reinstall)
  6. Reboot the computer
  7. In Windows Start, delete unnecessary items in the Windows Temp folder, but do not delete the Windows Temp folder itself. You can locate the Temp folder by entering %TEMP% in the Search bar of Windows Start
  8. Temporarily disable antivirus & firewall, use Task Manager to "End Task" feature to end the anti-virus software or other items that could be running in the background
  9. If the above does not resolve the issue continue & try Clean Uninstall of the product and try a browser download via Autodesk Virtual Agent (download all the parts) and install the product again

Let us know how it turns out.
