Expired License - Error 30 - AutoCAD 2016 Student Version

My 3-yr license expired and I reactivated.  Received an email saying my new activation was complete.

Opened AutoCAD and got the same msg again....expired license.

Went to Autodest and found the solution...

Opened Hidden files on the File Explorer (PC) - C: > ProgramData > FLEXnet > deleted the 00691b00 data files and back-ups as Autodesk said was needed.

Tried to open program, Same Error msg, the dame 00691b00 data files tried to reload on my computer...I never got a chance to use the new activation codes.

Went to Youtube - followed their instructions (same as those listed above).  Same outcome.

Don't know what to do next.  Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

You might want to ask this in the Installation & Licensing forum. I'll also tag some #Autodesk people for you. @muriel.a | @natasha.l | @Alessandra.G | @crystal.r

Hey rkmcswain - thx for getting back to me!

I've been pretty frustrated with the process (I'm a newbie w the AutoCAD Forum) and have been searching all around on the site for an answer.  Sorry for posting to the wrong page...I was just happy to get this posted at all!

How to Extend Student Software

Educational software includes the current version and 3 versions back.

Educational Software is offered for a term of 3 years.

You can not re-activate a previously used version when the version expires you must download another version listed in the Education Community if you are still an eligible student.

hey @Mark.Lancaster and @rkmcswain ,

I did some looking on the AutoDesk site and then cross-referenced w my banking; this is NOT the student version but I think it is the LT version.  I'm at a lose trying to get this re-activated.  I have the email verifying my new Activation and have followed the steps listed on AutoDesk about deleting the FLEXnet files: ( https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/activate/reactivation/reactivate-ho... )...

I do not know what the LMU.exe is or how to get to the LMU.exe process to end so I can delete the adasflex data files...

I think this is my stumbling hurdle.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

So now its based on a commercial license?

Anyhow bring up Windows task manager and select the details button and locate the process and right mouse click and select end process.

@Mark.Lancaster
I found the details tab>LMU.exe >right click and got both "End Task" and
"End Process Tree"
tried deleting each of these separately and both times the FLEXnet files
returned upon opening the AutoCAD program.

I have an LMS.exe running, an LManager.exe and an LMutilps32.exe all
showing on the Task Manager Details tab. This is not my area of knowledge -
so I need to End Task for all these? Or will this effect other programs?

Thx for the help!

Hey @Mark.Lancaster ,

thx for the screenshot on the LMS.exe >> I've tried this many times, but every time I "end process" on "LMS.exe" it pops back up as Running after about 3 seconds.  I can't get that task to fully end.  This makes me think that LMS.exe is running something else...or AutoCAD is running something in the back ground.  I've tried to "end process" on every Autoxxx program I can find in Task Manager....nothing works.  I have an email with a new 3-yr license but cant's get to the login part of the program.

I appreciate your helping to date, but I am just stuck in mud on this...

At this point, I would do the following

1.  Reboot your machine.

2.  Make sure all crucial Window updates have been applied

3.  Perform a clean uninstall per these instructions.

4.  Remove the existing license information per this instructions.

5. Properly download and install your Autodesk product to your machine.  Please review this article and the solution it provides.

hey @Mark.Lancaster ,

Thx SO MUCH for the detailed instructions.  I've reviewed them all and am about to attempt the whole list.  Computers aren't my natural element - I'm comfortable working on them, but I didn't grow up in the computer age so it takes me a bit longer as I usually work REAL SLOWLY when clicking buttons on a computer.

I'll circle back with you later to give you an update.

I do truly appreciate your help!

Hello.

I am having this same problem. I ahve uninstalled everything and reinstalled Revit. I still get an Error 30 when trying to activate my student license. I have only used 1 year of it so far. Please help.

It would be better to create a new thread for your problem as this one is marked as resolved and so many users will skip reading it.

Can you post a screenshot of the error you are seeing?

Have you checked whether the license entitlement shows on your Autodesk account?
