Inventor Won't open from my ssd (I have it installed in my hard drive)

When I try to open inventor after booting from my ssd the loading window will appear and close after only a second, I use my ssd to use my computer but I have the software installed in my hard drive, when I boot Windows from the hard drive it works as it should be, I have tried opening the app from it's folder but this won't work.

To your Question: A windows application can only be used with the OS that made the installation. So if you boot your OS on the HDD and install an application you can't use it on the SSD and vice versa. Installation of an application is much more then just copying some files to a folder. There happens a lot in the registry of the OS, many OS components get updated or added, files are added to the user's profile and so on. This all is missing on the other dirve.

You can boot from your SSD and install the application to a folder on the HDD if your SSD is running out of space. You will be asked for the destination folder by the installer. But you will still get a bunch of new files on the SSD though.

As mentioned ... What drive has your OS on it? 

What Drive is Inventor itself installed on? 

If you're getting the splash screen, it sounds like your have it all installed properly but something else is going on. 

What do you have for the following:

Anti-Virus

Video Card and driver? 

Are all of the updates installed?   Autodesk and Microsoft?

Hi Guys,

I have heard users trying to install Inventor on a removable drive from one machine. Then try to plug it in on another computer. It will not work. It is simply not the way Inventor will work regardless of harddrive type. Inventor needs to be installed on a steady physical drive. For virtualization, that is a totally different process.
