Inventor Education - software licensing snafu - wrong school

Hi,

I am an IT administrator for a large public school district in Michigan and I may have a serious problem.  One of our schools began using Inventor Pro 2017 this year.  Our department -- the IT department, which manages software licensing for the district -- didn't realize the school was planning this.  They enrolled in a program called Project Lead the Way and are entitled to use the Inventer software.   

What the school failed to realize was that they were using Inventor on a license held by one of the other schools in our district, which expired on 10/13/2019.  Right now we have students in the middle of their Inventor projects and the grace period ends on Wednesday 11/13/2010.  

I have notified Autodesk support  (Case number 15927072)  and received confirmation that they received the request on 11/4/2019 but have not heard from them since.   As the clock ticks down, I am getting worried.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Was this normal Autodesk support or the educational support?  If the former, normal Autodesk support will not work on educational accounts.

So just go here https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/inventor-professional, log in with the school's information and request a new version.   Educational license are only good for 3 years and when they expire you have to upgrade to a newer version.

Anyhow because the schools are in the same district is fine to use each other license or create a new account and request your own.

But the problem is that the license request is for a different school, but
one in the same school district. We didn't even know it had expired until
activation requests started to arrive in my inbox.

And we didn't renew before it expired because the school who holds the
license really didn't plan on using it this year.

So just create a new account and request it for your given school.
