Installing Maya 2020 on Linux

When I run ./Setup, I get the error

./Setup: error while loading shared libraries: libpng15.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can't figure out how to install libpng15.s0, my computer says libpng16 is already installed though.

Thanks for posting. 😊  Please review the System requirements for Autodesk Maya not all Linux operating systems are supported. Also, keep in mind using Maya on the supported Linux operating systems requires a multi-user license, it is not supported with a single-user license.

I have the version that comes with signing up as a student. It says single user in the email

@Anonymous A student license is a single user license meaning you need Windows 7/10 or MacOS X 10.13.x, 10.14.x, 10.15.x. as your OS.

If its not possible to use student versions on Linux then why is it available to download on the student version site??

It's worth saying that most students or users don't use Linux - at the end of the day business will cater to the majority which unfortunately does leave some groups out.

I can't agree with you. As a student, I have to use a cheap machine and maximize my ram and resoruces. Windows and Mac is not an option, the fact is that a Linux distro can handle low ram and energy consuption. We have to save a lot of things, you know? Many private apps are very very expensive, so we have to choose what can we buy or not. It is great that Autodesk has apps for Linux, and we figure out how to fix our issues. If you think that We students don't look for the best in our budget, you may have to visit a collage or check on people that actually goes to school.

Centos is for Severs, c'mon, like we can mount a big PC to have it on day and night. Make debs instead of rpms if you want to address students.
