Installing Autocad 2017 architecture with a serial key

Good Morning everyone!

I am working in an office and I am in charge of managing the IT, We currently have 9 subscription to the autodesk collection.

The previous IT passed me a Serial key for autocad architecture 2017 that is supposed to be a perpetual license.

My problem is that I have no idea how to download and register this version using the product key.

On the office account this product is not registered and I am able to download only the products connected to the collection.

Can someone help me to understand how to do?

Dont worry about the perpetual license version and use the collection one.  In the Autodesk account do you see user management on the left side?  What sub section is under it?  Or nothing there?

I have the submenu "by user" and "by product".

Anyway I am currently downloading Autocad architecture 2017 from the collection, will it be possible to activate it with the serial key instead of the login?

No it will not be possible.   You now have collection and you need to use that activation method.

Under By User does the user accounts of the end user in there?

So this serial number is basically useless? (I am not mad, just to understand if it can be an asset or not) cause we will have a new colleague in 2 weeks and we already using all the collection licenses and I was trying to use this serial to setup a new workstation.

No, I did not created the account yet, the new colleague will join the practice in a couple of weeks.

Now that I understand a little more it may be possible but its all about the history of that serial # you have.  If it was used to switch over to the AEC Collection/subscription plan than the serial # is invalid.   But as being only users here I have no clue about the history of your serial #.   Have you tried to install and select the serial # option upon startup?

I have successfully activated Autocad Architecture 2017 using the serial key.

Basically I have followed the followings steps:

• Login and download autocad architecture 2017 from the collection (I guess that it can work also with the trial version)
• once installed follow this guide to change activation method (you will need an autodesk account anyways or the software will automatically shutdown on start up if not logged in)
• get the product key from here and with the serial number activate the product
• Now you can sign out of from the account so Autocad works only with the serial number perpetually without subs.
