Installation Error 1603

I keep getting this error but tried to follow your advice. Error is (Install Autodesk Material Library 2015 - Low Image Library Failed). This is driving me crazy, it is for my son who is studying engineering and all we want to do is get this program installed but keep getting this error. I tried your fixes or patches but to follow them you would need to be Bill Gates. We are doing mechanical engineering not softwre design, how do yu expect us mere mortals to be able to follow your poor advice. Your adice was:

Issue:

Installation of your product won't complete because the Material Library Low Image Resolution Library 2015 won't install. Error messages vary, but the overall installation fails with Error 1603 because this library is a required component for many Autodesk products.

Solution:First, try a manual installation:
  1. In the Installation folder, look for the  Materiallibrary2015.msi file in folder Content > ADSKMaterials > 2015 > CM.
  2. Run Materiallibrary2015.msi and follow the prompts.
  3. When that task is complete, look for LowimageLibrary2015.msi in Content > ADSKMaterials > 2015 > ILL.
  4. Run the LowimageLibrary2015.msi.
  5. If both installations succeed, try the overall product/Suite installation again.
  6. If the Low image library installation still fails, check to make sure that no partial installs exist by using the Microsoft Fix It tool.

See:  http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

To run Microsoft Fix it:

  1. Click the "Run now" Button in the Fix-it box.
  2. Accept the License Agreement.
  3. Choose the option, "Detect Problems and let me select fixes to apply."
  4. Select "Uninstalling."
  5. When the list of installed programs populates, select "Look for Autodesk Material Library Low Image Library 2015" and if it exists, remove it.
  6. Try the install again.

If the Microsoft Fix it does not detect the installation, you either need to do a clean operating system install or manually copy in the material library and modify the setup.ini file of the installer.

To copy in the low image library manually:

  1. Install it on another system (you can use the manual install procedure above if it isn't installed already)
  2. Copy the folders below into the corresponding directory on the affected system. Replace any files if prompted.

64 bit system:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\2
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\UPI2015Low
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\Environments\SunAndSky

32 bit system:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\2
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\UPI2015Low
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\Environments\SunAndSky

  1. Once this is done, modify the setup.ini file in the installation folder.
  2. Because the installation folders on install media (USB, DVD) are read only, you need to copy the whole folder to a folder on the hard drive to make changes.
  3. Open the setup.ini file in Notepad and find and delete all instances of "CMILL" from the file.
  4. Save the changes and try the install again.

Are you aware that Mocrosoft Fix-It doesnt run on Windows 7 64 Bit so as for your advice, it is not any good.

If I had the same issues I have had with your software with Microsift Office, there would be an outcry. My email address is iain.thomson@avon-protection.com I request that you contact me so we can get this matter resolved immediately. My son is due to submit designs using your software by Friday and has spent all weekend trying to resolve the issue with your software. I beg you please contact me.

Thanks

Iain
