install on Ubuntu 21.04 no luck

I first used version 4 and my account is still good (!) now I am trying to install newest and unable to do so.

1. Downloaded the latest Linux version to be processed by Ubuntu manager.

2. After download was finished I got no further response from Ubuntu.

4. Clicked on downloaded file and was instructed to "extract "

5. Selected new extract folder.

6. After extraction was finished selected " open extracted folder "

7. In folder clicked on "eagle" AND got no response.

At no time I was running "EAGLE installer": as expected.

Downloaded again and selected "save file">

1. Downloaded Windows version of EAGLE

2. After similar steps , but involving Wine, as outlined above,  actually run EAGLE installer.

3. Eventually , after reboot, ended up with EAGLE  icon on desktop

4. Clicking on EAGLE icon DOES NOT run EAGLE, just sits and spins for a spell.

I am not smart enough build scripts and otherwise hack the installation, but like to get it going.

Hello @Anonymous,

Thanks for providing the workflow conducted so far. Please review the system requirements for Eagle here.

Linux Linux® based on kernel 2.6 for Intel computers, X11 with a minimum color depth of 8 bpp, the following runtime libraries: libssl.so.1.0.0, libcrypto.so.1.0.0, and CUPS for printing.

For the 64-bit version EAGLE requires a 64 bit-operating system and libc.so.6 with sub version GLIBC_2.14 or higher.
