FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0040 Exception Window 7

Autocad 2020 was running fine (windows 7) for the last 3 weeks, then got this notice:
Acad Fatal Error notice:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0040 Exception at CD9FB549h

Note that yesterday I also had a temporary (5+ hr struggle) with my laptop going semi-dark after the Dell window...Windows 7 didn't start.
I took out and reinstalled the battery, ran diagnostics, then did a reboot. So far I'm now up and running, but still on Windows 7.
Error notice was: PCIe training error pci tag-0100 vendor id-10de  dell precision 7510
Not sure if these 2 problems are related...

My System (purchased Oct. 15, 2016, unused until this last month, so still on Windows 7 (service pack 1):
Precision 15 7000 Series (7510)
Mobile Percision7510 XCTO BASE
Windows 7 Professional
Intel Xeon E3-1545M v5 @ 2.9 GHz with Iris Pro Graphics P580
64-bit Operating system
Nvidia Quadro M2000m w/ 4GB GDDR5
32 GB (2x16GB) 2133MHz DDR4 SDRAM, ECC
512GB M.2 PCle NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive

I'm a novice at dealing w/ these things, so while I've seen some previous posts, nothing jumps out at me. Would upgrading to Windows 10 help?

Thanks!

Have you seen the following:

Also the M2000M hasn't been certified since before 2018 AutoCAD:

M Davis- Yes I saw the troubleshooting article...but there are a number of channels one gets taken, without much hope of resolution. They mention:

- Starting Acad with diff. profiles....I am not familiar with this.

- Install Acad updates, add-ons and enhancements....ACAD2020 should be current - I just purchased the subsription 3 wks ago.

- Disable hardware acceleration...haven't tried this yet, but will do so.

- Download latest drivers...Nvidia site couldn't do this...but Dell updated about 9 drivers etc, (purchased in '16).

As far as the graphics card goes, I think I chose the preferred/acceptable one from 4 yrs ago. And, when I check for a similar system (Dell precision 7540, xeon....under the "Help me choose: Graphics Card" they list the same Nvidia Q M200M for architecture and engineering...though their base systems list others).

So, still no working AutoCAD

Can you try starting it without the Hardware Accelerator?

Thanks for your reply and advice. I received help from the Acad help desk last night (part of my subscription svc), and now I believe my problem is solved. So, I'll keep a link of what your provided for future reference. From the article you provided, it seems the issue was related to "AutoCAD setup requires reconfiguration".

The AutoCAD helpdesk agent did the following:

1) Clicked on the Acad icon...made some type of change...

2) Took screen control and became the temporary administrator. Acad then worked, so determined it wasn't some bigger hardware issue.

3) She changed something in the Account Profile and changed the Acad settings back to "default"...seemed to work fine. (Don't know if I had hit some key by mistake...or, fiddled w/ something beyond my knowledge level).

Since I've only had Acad for about 1-mo, I may not have set things up correctly at the start.

And, since my laptop is 4yrs old, but only recently began using it, I'm hopeful things will be trouble-free for awhile.

Thanks!

Michael,

Thanks for your 2nd tip. I didn't try this as an Acad Helpdesk agent helped me last night - described recently to someone else's suggestions. Basically, she took screen control, became the administrator and then Acad worked. She did something in the account profiles, reset settings back to "default" (since this was only purchased 1-mo ago), and Acad not seems to start up fine. So, while Acad had been working fine for a few weeks, somewhere along the line I must've changed something by mistake...or, my initial setting bumped up to a 30 limit? She also said something about the internet setting not showing up...so, maybe the subscription couldn't be verified?? ...Anyways, thanks for your help!  - Eric
