Hi @carl,

 

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. This error can occur if the Hotfix, Service Pack, or 32/64 bit package does not match the version that is installed on the computer. Make sure you are using the right 64-bit package if that is what you have and try installing from the virtual agent. It may help to get more information about your setup.

Most likely this issue is related to not having the crucial Windows updates for your operating system, so I would start there.  In addition NASTRAN software is not part of the Autodesk Virtual Agent.  Report back on your progress.

Thanks for the tip.  I forgot that I had turned off Windows update.  Even after updating Windows 7, same error.

Hi Carl,

Which service pack or hotfix for Nastran are you trying to install? I believe you just have Nastran standalone, but by chance do you also have Simulation Mechanical installed?

Hey Andrew,

 

I have the standalone version, and was trying to install Autodesk_NASTRAN_2017_11.1.1.240 .  Is this the correct package or should I be looking for something else ?

Hi Carl, I'm at home at the moment on my personal laptop, so I don't have Nastran installed to check build numbers. But I believe 11.1.X should be the Nastran 2017 R1 release and 11.0 will be Nastran 2017. Do you already have Nastran 2017 installed on your machine? The 2017 R1 is just a patch that goes on top of the initial 2017 release. Regards, Andrew

I guess that's the rub.  For some reason, I assumed that DL was the install for 2017.  I'm running 2016 still.   I'd appreciate it if you could provide a link.

Hi Carl,

 

If you're still on Nastran 2016 there will be a couple steps involved with getting 2017 operational.

 

  1. Generate a new network license file information
  2. Upgrade Network License Manager to 11.13
  3. Add new license file data to existing license file
  4. Download Nastran 2017
  5. Install Nastran 2017
  6. Install Nastran 2017 R1

I'm by no means a licensing expert just a FEA guy, so I'm sure if I've missed a step someone more knowledgable on the board will correct me 😄
