DWG TrueView as default program

Anonymous

Hi there,

Anyone an idea how I can configure DWG TrueView as the default program through Group Policies for Citrix environment? I've managed a way to pointing for DWG's to the .exe file, but it always gives the first time a short 'windows installer' popup.. so I'm looking for a better workaround.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kind regards

Hi @Anonymous

Can you share a screenshot of the Setup window that comes up?  Perhaps check this article.

Hi there,

Thanks for taking your time to reply.

Hereby a screenshot from the installer that appears when opening Trueview, think this is not similar of your article where it happens on non-autodesk apps.

A file looks initially like this in File Explorer; dwg_auto_file.

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

The dialog usually comes up when the software tries to set up the user folders (%appdata% and %localappdata%) for the first time. This happens only on first launch, subsequent launches do not trigger that.

I have seen this in the past with AutoCAD as well (DWG Trueview is based on it) in conjunction with Active Directory. See if this article helps: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Secondary-installer-comes-up-with-every-launch-after-user-profile-deleted.html

Also make sure that the user has R/W permissions on the below key and corresponding sub-key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\

Thank you, I see this folders were excluded in the profile from Citrix, will try this out and see if this is the solution.

Enjoy your day!
