For people who work in IT and deploy Autodesk products, where can we go to get information that matters to us? Things like:

  • Naming convention on disk and registry for each product and versions
  • Where to find on disk or registry useful information about what's installed (specifics, eg serial, licence type etc)
  • Detailing each of the keys from the previous point
  • Best practices for deployments and perhaps a list of all known issues

I've found between different products, the standards of naming conventions differ. They're consistent within the scope of each product, but broadly speaking across all Autodesk product sthey differ (in some places quite significantly).

I'm looking for somewhere that's central, that hopefully I've missed in my many recent months of dealing with Autodesk deployments and SCCM.

So far, I've found answers to my many recent questions from TechNet, forums and by guessing.

Hello @Anonymous,

Check to see if you have access to our Enterprise Priority Support in your Autodesk Account. I suggest you reach out to them regarding information for IT professionals, this group specializes in improved IT & product deployment processes.

Here is some of the general information you requested:

Best Practices for creating a deployment

Autodesk Inventory Advisor (AIA)

This tool is free to use and will only collect information about the Autodesk software you have installed on your PCs. It puts this information into a simple .XML file that you then import into the Portal. The report will collect the PC Name, Application Name, Application Version, Serial Number & Installation/License Type.

Thank you for posting.
