Cannot get past Splash screen Maya 2016

First time user of Autodesk Maya and trying to get the program to launch correctly.
I get stuck at the Output window, right after "OpenCL evaluator is attempting to initialize OpenCL."
Has anyone ran into a similar problem regarding this issue?
I am not sure if this information is relevent but I will post it regardless.
