Cannot Activate

  I've followed the instructions below with the program getting stuck after step 5 and before step 6.  The screen goes back to step 5 and asks for an administrators permission.  This is not necessary, but was tried as the admin.  This still did not work.  Along the process there is a warning:

 

 "License Error:  The license manager is not functioning or is improperly installed.  AutoCAD will shut down now."

 

  I have an activation code, but cannot get to that point in order to input it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

 

 

Activate Online after Installation

The steps below illustrate the process of activating and registering your Autodesk software online the first time you launch a new program after installation.

To activate and register your software:

  1. Launch your Autodesk product by clicking the product icon on your desktop or by clicking the (product name).exe file, which is typically saved under your Programs (Windows) or Applications (Mac) folder.
  2. On the Let's Get Started screen, choose one of these options:
    • Enter a Serial Number. Use this option if you have a single-user license and received serial number information in your confirmation email. 
    • Use a Network License. Use this option if you use a network server to manage licenses and know the name of the server.

  3. On the Autodesk Privacy Statement screen, click the I Agree button to indicate your acceptance of the terms and conditions. The privacy statement only appears the first time you launch the software.
  4. On the Product LIcense Activation screen, click Activate.
  5. Enter the Serial Number and Product Key and click the Continue or Next button (depending on your software version).
  6. On the Product License Activation Options screen, choose one of the following options: 
    • Connect now and activate
    • I have an activation code from Autodesk   
      Note: If you can't connect or have restricted Internet access, you need to manually activate your product
  7. If you have received an activation code from Autodesk by email, place your cursor in the top-left cell and copy and paste it into the form.  (The code will populate the entire table.)

If you do not have your activation code, you can use your Serial Number and Request Code to get your Autodesk product activation code online.

  1. When you see the Thank You for Activating screen, activation is complete.

Are you seeing a message like this?

If so, you have a term based subscription and activation is done through an Autodesk ID. At this point the application is not assigned to your Autodesk ID/named account, thus the message. Which means the contract manger for your subscription needs to log into their account, un-assign the product from their account and then assign it to your Autodesk ID.  It has nothing to do with being an Admin on your machine and/or contacting your IT Administrator.

 

Do you know who the contract manager is for your subscription?

I am also having the issue that I cannot add myself as a user, therefore I cannot activate my product.

I have a single user license and I cannot add myself as a user in order to provide access to my Autodesk ID.  I keep getting the message 'contact your administrator to request permission to use the product'. 

I have tried all of the troubleshooting, and this is the 2nd time I'm contacting Support - the "fix" Support provided me previously was temporary as it only worked for one month.

It seems a lot of users are having the same issue. I cannot access the product. I need a refund . . .

How does a single user assign an AutoCAD LT for Mac desktop subscription to their own Autodesk ID (I am the admin of this subscription)?  And why isn't this just done automatically?  I cannot activate my product, nor can I add myself as a user to add access to myself. . . .  SUPER frustrating.

This is a 5 year old post you're posting on.

 

I would look in your Account Manager and see what it now shows for your activation.  Autodesk has been moving away from Serial numbers and going to Named user ( activating using your Autodesk ID) ..
