Autodesk Revit 2018 Licensing System Error 1

Anonymous
Not applicable

I finally got Autodesk Revit 2018 installed on my computer after about six tries.  Got my shortcut on my desktop and on the taskbar and ready to go.  When I click on it to open, the Autodesk Revit 2018 background screen displays, but after a bit I get the 2018 Licensing System Error 1.  I've tried rebooting a couple of times and have made repeated attempts to open the program, but always the same results - Error 1.

I looked and found some earlier posts regarding the same error from Revit 2017.  I was thinking that might provide the solution, but the more I read, the more I realized that the solutions being offered didn't appear to work.  I've been on this for several hours now, and I've got to walk away for a bit.  I'm hoping that someone by now will have a solution that will work.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Causes:
  • LGS.data file is missing from the CLM folder
  • Trusted Storage files are corrupted
  • LMU.exe fails to start (results with variation error "License System Error 1 5")
  • User does not have read/write permission to the folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\
Solution:Try right-clicking the Revit icon and choose run as administrator. If it still does not open try solutions 1 through 3. If it does open successfully permissions could be an issue - proceed to Solution #4.

Solution #1
Create the folder structure in your CLM folder as following and put attached LGS.data file under the folder 829I1_2017.0.0.F:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\829I1_2017.0.0.F

Solution #2
If the problem still persist, then please remove the adskflex_xxx_tsf.data from folder: C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet, then go through the reactivation process.

Solution #3
You may need to set LMU.exe compatibility to Windows 7 mode and run is as administrator.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdLM\R12\ LMU.exe

Solution #4
Grant the user (or EVERYONE) full read/write access to the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk
Go to the following location and ATTEMPT to rename the ProductInformation.pit file (ProductInformation_bak.pit) - if you receive any notification that you need admin right then permissions IS an issue.
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm\ProductInformation.pit

Have you worked on these solutions? please let me know!

Hi,

I recently installed my student version of Revit 2018; the installation was successful but whenever I try to start the program I get a 'licensing system error 1' error message (see below).

I checked all fixes in https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Licensing-System-Error-1... :

LGS.data is OK (_STANDALONE) in folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\829I1_2018.0.0.f

I removed adskflex_xxx_tsf.data from folder: C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet but it is not recreated when I run Revit2018.

I checked for full control permissions on folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk

but still I get the following error :

RevitError.PNG

Please, help me, I can't do my student work!!!!

Hi,

this is a nightmare: I uninstalled from my Windows10 all Autodesk products to get a new clean Revit 2018 installation (Autocad and 3D Max were working before), I removed all Autodesk related folders, I cleaned the registry, then I installed just only Revit 2018, and I still get "Licensing system error 1".

Obviously my license is valid.

Is there at least a log I can check for more details on this error?

Please help.

Claudia

Hello @Anonymous,

Try AIDA Autodesk Installation Diagnostic Assistant it is intended to provide assistance in identifying the root cause and providing a suggested solution & pulls the logs for you.

1. Download the installation executable from the following link to download AIDA.

2. Double-click the executable and click the “Install” button

3. Accept the license agreement and click “next”

4. Click the “Install” button. The install should complete in 1-2 minutes. Click “finish” when complete

5. Share the HTML file it provides with the results

This is a known issue that has been resolved with the previous suggestion, sorry for the inconvenience.

I installed AIDA, then I ran LogFileAggregator.exe I found in the AIDA folder and it produced the following  report.

Hi Mark,

I simply want to make working again REVIT. It was working on my Win10 PC until one month ago.

One day, probably after a Windows update, it didn't start anymore, so I tried to reinstall it, many times, both 2017 and 2018 version.

2018 gives me the "Licensing system error 1" at startup.

I'm using an an Administrator account, I unistall it, I clean all Autodesk and temporary folders, I clean registry, but it does not start.

I'm going to reinstall it again as per Natascia suggestion. Every unistal/install requires half a day. I'm frustrated.

Hi Experts,

I spent another half day to reinstall Revit2018 after setting full contol to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE, disabling anti-virus, Windows defender etc.etc..

Same result: installation is OK but when I start Revit2018 I get the usual "Licensing system error 1".

I have collected all the installation logs, so I could provide them to you for analysis, but I don't see errors there; instead I think it could be interesting the following messages I found in clm-17-08-2017.log during Revit2018 startup:

I think the key is in the CLM error.

Every time I start Revit2018 I get the above error in the clm-17-08-2018.log.

Please help.

Hi Experts,

I also tried to reset Windows to factory setting, then reinstalled REVIT (another day spent for nothing).

Again the usual result.

I suspect the Microsoft KB4022405.

I have Windows 10 version 1703 + KB4022405.

As soon as I reset Windows to factory setting then KB4022405 is automatically applied and it can't be removed anymore.

I think Revit stopped to work whem Microsoft sent out that KB.

Is there anybody with Win10 1703 + KB4022405 running Revit?

Many thanks and best regards.

Claudia

Uninstalling all Autodesk products and reinstalling sequentially by years (2016-2020) does not fix the Autodesk Revit 2018.3 license error 1 issue. HTML report attached from Diagnostic. The accepted solution shaded in green did not work. Thank you for helping me find a solution.
