Autodesk Maya & Mudbox 2017 Linux install failure

I have downloaded and attepted to insyall maya and mudbox with the instructions provided on Arch linux with failure with both i am faced with these respective error messages after activating my licences with the installer

 

Maya:

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/maya).

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/maya).

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/maya).

Mudbox:

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/mudbox).

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/mudbox).

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/mudbox).

Could not launch rpm executable (/home/%USERNAME%/Downloads/mudbox).

 

any help would be greatly appreciated since I start university soon

i have re downloaded and attempted another reinstall, and faced the same error.

after attepting to install maya 2017 patch 4 via "pacaur -S maya" i then was met with a validation error, after that i ran the setup file that came with the tgz file that i previously extracted, now after this i get just the "Could not launch RPM Executable" Error, and the files are marked as executable before you ask. what is Maya actually attepting to 'Launch' the RPM with? because all i can tell is that an RPM is an archive, not an executable program, so it must be trying to run it with a 3rd party program...
