Autodesk desktop app won't open

Hi, My Autodesk desktop app won't open. It's installed and is the latest version, there is even a shortcut on my desktop but when i double click nothing happens. I'm on windows 10 latest version. It used to work.

Things I've tried:

  • restarting my machine
  • uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app
  • double clicking the app itself from program files and not the shortcut

All other programs work on my pc including all autodesk products.

Cheers

Hello @robinX386Z

You can give the following steps a try, it maybe the Autodesk Desktop app Services are stopped and need to be manually started.

The first thing to check is that the desktop app is completely closed, without any instances running in the background. You can do this by right clicking on an empty space in the Taskbar (generally at the bottom of your home screen where all the programs are docked) and selecting Task Manager.

Scroll down until you see the Autodesk Desktop App, right click on all the instances of it and select End Task at the bottom right of the window. You can then open the Desktop app through your start menu, it will be located under you Autodesk folder.

Restart Services

If this has not worked, go to your start menu and type in Services, scroll down to the Autodesk Desktop App Service, and restart this by right clicking and selecting Stop, then selecting Start, please ensure that you only stop this service. Then try to open the Desktop App again.

Hi Natasha,

I have tried the above but it is still not working. It does appear in my task manager but the window is no where to be seen, it is not even in the system tray. I have tried going to services to and stopping and starting the service but nothing. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks
