Autocad - Offline

Hi,

We have a requirement at my place of work to have Autocad on our standalone offline system but I have researched this and the answer I keep getting is that 1) it needs to be online to be activated in the first place & 2) it needs to be online every 30 days to check the licence.

Our standalone system is not allowed online at any point so would achieve neither of these but we know our competitors have achieved this somehow, so does anyone know a way of getting autocad to run on an offline system?

Didn't know anyone had achieved by speaking to a particular representative at Autodesk who you could put a case forward for a perpetual licence or something similar, I have spoken to autodesk support phone line but they wasn't sure.

As I say on the face of it it isn't possible, but this is a client requirement to work for them and we know some of our competitors have achieved this somehow.

Thanks.

Why wasn't this discussed before taking on the client? It creates a tough position for employees when management takes on projects that they aren't ready for.

You might try asking over in the Installation and Licensing forum. There might be some people over there that can help you out, if it really is possible. I'm guessing whatever they are doing involves some sort of check-in/check-out procedure for the license in order to keep the project air-gapped.

This client has been a client of ours for 15 years but have recently introduced this requirement as they look to improve security, they are not enforcing it as of yet but will be in the coming months.

Thanks i’ll take a look over in that forum.

Their business model has changed

They no longer offer perpetual licenses to anyone

Internet is required for setup & activation & required every 30 days

There was talks of a darkside / DOJ things like that.. but I haven't seen anything on that.

I'd put in a support ticket to licensing and only talk to someone there.

You'll get a lot of well you could / maybe this ... etc etc

But as of not it has to be a every 30 day verification as mentioned.
