AutoCAD LT 2018 - can't activate.

Single seat, stand alone license.

At first the seat  was assigned to our  purchasing manager (who  actually  buys the software). I contacted our rep and they added me (sys admin) to the account.

I  went in and created the proper user and  assigned the seat to him and all the related services. The check boxes took. But it seems to think I am still the seat as every time we try to activate it with his  credentials it asks for the serial number and key (which are already filled in and correct) but does not offer a way to  enter  the activation code that gets emailed.

Note the activation emails get sent  to  me, not  him, which makes me think its thinking *I* still got the seat.

In any case, I don't think it matters as there isn't a place to enter the code. He's tried a dozen times and each time  I get an email with a new activation code that we cannot find where to enter.

I've tried 2 of the 3 activation options - 1. Log  in and 2. enter serial number, but *not* 3. Network license (because its a stand alone seat).

I've  even tried starting the trail and looking for a place to enter  the activation info from inside AC itself.

I think its confused.

Any  ideas?

Hello alpsautodesk and welcome to the Autodesk community!

If you’re having trouble with the activation email, please note that sometimes the email can be accidentally routed to your spam or junk folder. Please check there.

Also, please note that you should be able to access your download and activation information by logging into Autodesk Accounts.

If you cannot access software in your account and need to download it now, please go to the Virtual Agent.

Stand alone seat means perpetual license.   It sounds like you have single user subscription, is that correct?

If so there's no activation code required.  Its based on the named account being used or the name that its assigned to.  In the end are you seeing the message about contact your administrator or another message?

If the message about seeing your administrator, at this point please perform a license reset per this article.

Still no activation.

I've taken several screenshots to help with this.

As far as I can tell, I have assigned permissions so this user has access to the software. I start the software and I am prompted with Capture1.jpg which asks me to  1. SIGN IN 2. ENTER A SERIAL NUMBER 3. USE A NETWORK LICENSE.

Three isn't the right option so lets go to number  2 - ENTER A SERIAL NUMBER. I am next promoted with Capture1a.jpg which has an input field for a serial  number. I copy the serial number from the screen where I assigned the permissions/seat to the user and it gives me the green check mark, but  when I hit the ACTIVATE button it says its incorrect.

For giggles, I enter a serial number from a different product/user and it accepts it! See capture2a.jpg. After that I am promoted to connect to the internet to complete the activation - see capture2b.jpg - but  it returns with an invalid serial number page - see capture2c.jpg. If I enter the correct serial number here (the first one I tried above) it accepts it and I get the successful activation page - see capture 2s.jpg. But when I hit finish it returns again to  the "wrong serial number page" (capture2e.jpg) and no neither   serial  number is accepted in the form.

I've tried logging in as several different users including myself (the admin) to  get  this done, both as entering a serial number  or step 1. SIGN IN.

Its worth noting that every time I try to enter a serial number I get an email to my email address (not the end user) which contains an activation code (see capture3.jpg). Of course in both procedures 1 and 2 there is no place to enter this number. So I tried something different - START A TRIAL so I can get into the software to find a place to enter this number, which I found, but it never accepts the number sent to me.l

I think this covers all the possible options available to me.

Registering Lite software shouldn't be  this cumbersome. I mean, enter the serial number assigned to the product, check in on  the internet, be done already...

Looks like I can only attach 3 screen shots to  this reply. The rest will be in other replies...

Any help is  appreciated....

Please stop sharing all these images with sensitive information..  You are risking your security of your AUtodesk product on an world wide user forum.  Smiley Very Happy

Update:  You have never answered my question, do you have a single user subscription license for Acad LT?

Update #2: Perform a license reset per this article.  Do not copy and paste any serial # and/or product key.  Type them in.  If you continue to see the Contact your administrator message, please review this article as well.

Wow, you're right. I didn't think the serial numbers were readable and I did not care about the activation numbers. And there apparently isn't a way for me to delete the screenshots even though I am the OP.

I gotta say, there isn't anything about this that hasn't been surprisingly unpleasant.

On the bright side, maybe whoever steals our information can get the software to work for them so at least our purchase isn't going to complete waste. Smiley Very Happy
