Autocad and Revit not opening

hello, I have been working with both the softwares for a while now and have never encountered this issue before. Since yesterday, if I close either programs and want to reopen them they don't load, the pointer shows it's loading for a bit then it will stop and the software won't launch. I have checked task manager when this happens to see if I could force the applications to boot but they don't show up. I now have to restart or shut down my laptop anytime I close the programs and want to reopen them (in the case of crashes etc).

What if you create a new Windows login with local admin rights , sign in using that new account and then start, close and start AutoCAD & Revit?

Hi,

  • You may have a Background process that doesn't close properly. From Task manager → Processes → Background Processes, End any of these if they appear ( acad.exe / AdskLicensingService.exe / AdskNat / AdSSO.exe / Autodesk Desktop App ) then try opening AutoCAD.
  • Restart Autodesk Licensing Service ( Press Win + R then type services.msc Find Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service then Right–click → Restart ).
  • Empty Temp folders ( Press Win + R then type  temp /  Press Win + R then type  %temp% )

Hope that help you...

Hi, thank you both for your responses, @paullimapa making another profile did the job and now both applications open though I don't know what's causing the issue on my main profile. @imadHabash I will try this next.

At least you now know that there's nothing wrong with both installed program files

You can try troubleshooting your windows login by disabling all Enabled apps under Task Manager > Startup

Then restart and sign in to your windows login again and see if that makes a difference.
