AutoCAD 2022 does not install

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but unable to find anywhere else on Autodesk sites to request support.

Installing AutoCAD 2022 fails on Windows 10 machine, which has all the most recent updates.

After downloading, the installer runs until it gets to this point:

hoi @jmorris03

The file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AcShellEx\AcShellExtension.dll is being held in use. Close that application and retry. .. Even a Reboot first would help

or

it looks like you have old version for SaveToWeb from 2021. Perhaps the fix is to uninstall SaveToWeb first. Then Install 2022.

Please let me know if it works.

Regards,

Srinivas.

Thanks for the suggestion running: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-r...

But all this does is list all of the already installed programs.  There is no option to select AutoCAD 2022.

You use the tool to uninstall that 2021 content that is preventing your 2022 installation.

If you don't need the 2021 software. If you do, I suggest you find a second PC to try 2022 until you have time to take your PC to a repair shop for them to fi your system level issue.

Good luck.

Unable to resolve this problem on my primary machine.  I was able to get AutoCAD 2022 installed and running on a secondary machine without issue.  At some point, this will need to be installed on my primary machine, but other priorities are pushing this to the backburner for now.

Thanks all for your responses regarding this.

Hi,

The picture you show is that you need the installation files of 2021 to uninstall existing Autodesk Save to Web and Mobile.

Another option is to use the uninstaller from the windows site.

Yes the message I get is saying that it is having difficulties finding 2021 files.  But that message is a result of running the AutoCAD 2022 installer.

I've also run that fix-problems-that-block.... app, but that doesn't help.  One of the options in that program is to select the 'Having problems installing a program.  It then takes a few seconds and lists all of the apps already installed on my machine.  Unfortunately, the issue is trying to install an app not already on my machine AutoCAD 2022.

FYI, also ran into the same problem with the Revit 2022 installer.   This appears to be more of a problem with my machine, will let my IT department sort it out.

Thanks again to all who have made reasonable suggestions as how to resolve this.

My installation issue was resolved by resetting my system to factory defaults.  i.e.  I needed to re-install, re-configure everything.  My system issues were not caused by the Autodesk installers.
