AEC install using Building Suite License

So our company has 2017 Building Suite and 2017 AEC Suite network versions. Both licenses are on the same server.

As I do new installs, I am installing some AEC network versions on the new computers and connecting them to our license server. For some reason, the AEC versions are picking up the Building Suite licenses and tying up network licenses. Is there a way to redirect the AEC versions to the AEC license and not the Building Suite licenses?

I'm hoping to not have to uninstall everything and reload everything.

Thanks

Bob

It sounds like both of your product (suite and collection) are subscription based or multi-user, is that correct?  If so the lower term product would be pulled first, meaning the suite license.  If you want control you will need to create an Autodesk license option file and reserve the AEC Collection products per given users.  Do you know how to make a license option file?

Here's an example how to take information from your license file and use it in your option file.

Yes, we have 6 Building Design Suite Premium licenses and 6 AEC licenses.

No, I've never created a Autodesk license option. Would it be easier to put the licensees on separate servers?

Thanks

You can (which its called a distributive license server model).  However you will  need to recreate your license file again for both servers and if the end user had to move around for any apparent reason you may have to re-point them to the correct server.

The option file only takes a few mins to create and put into place..  Smiley Wink

Thanks Mark, I got your PM. We're looking into both option right now. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks
