2018 Inventor HSM Deployment

I am trying to create a silent deployment for 2018 Inventor HSM.  I have tried both from the product page of the Autodesk site and from the virtual agent.  The deployment looks like it creates normally, but when I launch it on a client machine, the Autodesk self-extractor launches (see attached screen grab).  If I cancel that, it seems to load fine.  How can I create a deployment where the self-extractor does not launch?Capture.JPG

Hello @Anonymous,

In the  "Installation Settings" section, of the deployment creator, there should be a Silent Mode option.

Let me know if you do not see it.

Yes, I am aware of that option and have selected it when I created the deployment.  It does not prevent the Autodesk Self Extractor from popping up when I launch the deployment on a client machine.

Hello @Anonymous,

Ahh I see, sorry about that then. You can try these commands in that case, but to install Inventor HSM silently with your deployment: How to install service packs silently

I hope this was helpful to you, let us know how it goes.

I must not be explaining what is happening very well.  From the Virtual Agent, I am creating a deployment that will be located on one of our servers that will help us install the software on client machines.  We successfully create deployments for Design Suite Ultimate, Inventor Pro, and Vault.  When I create the deployments, I choose "silent mode".  For some reason, when I run the 2018 HSM deployment, during installation on a client machine, the Autodesk Self-Extractor pops up.  I have to cancel that, and the deployment proceeds normally.  It is an annoyance to be sure, but also may be confusing for my IT team that normally does the client installations.  Why does this happen on the HSM deployment?  It does not on any of the other products.

I've never created a deployment for HSM so I can't comment if this is normal or not.   If you don't run the deployment in silent mode, do you see the extraction window appear as well?

I know this is an installation issue and this forum is the correct one to use, but you may also want to post over in the HSM forum and ask the actually users about this.  A lot of times, the HSM Autodesk support team will response to you over there.

Just indicate or link this posting to your HSM posting and point out you tried here but it was suggested that you also try in the HSM forum...   Also if you do find the solution please come back and update this one.

Great question.  I just tried that and the self-extractor pops up on a non-silent install as well.  At least its consistent.  Thanks for the suggestion on posting in the HSM forum.  I will do that.

Hello @Anonymous,

I understand now that you are simply pointing this annoying behavior out to the community. I will reach out to the Inventor HSM team for you as well, to see if this behavior has been reported. I will follow up once I hear back.

No, I am doing more than pointing it out.  I really hope there is a solution here.  As I stated earlier, this could be confusing to my IT team and I would rather have the software work as it was intended to.  Thanks.
