Cloud models now upgrade directly to the cloud

CloudIf this is a cloud model (with the cloud icon) and you click on the model tile in Home, the workflow is now different. Now you can upgrade the shared cloud model directly and if you already had a connected model locally, it will be upgraded and merged to the cloud as well.

Note that this will upgrade the cloud model for all other group members, so they too will need to install the same version of InfraWorks 360 to continue working on this model with you.

When the upgrade is finished, you’ll have an up-to-date cloud model and a locally cached model that is connected to the cloud. If you had a previously connected local model with unsynced changes, these changes will be merged with the cloud. At the same time, the local model is moved into the new cloud model cache.

If the whole team isn’t ready to install the next version of InfraWorks 360, you can choose to Upgrade a Copy, which will leave the original cloud model in place for the team to work on. Upgrade a Copy takes the shared cloud model and copies it to a group of your choice.

You can do these cloud upgrade operations only if you're an Administrator or Publisher of the group that shares the model.

Why are you changing the upgrade behavior for cloud models?

We want to ensure that teams collaborating on cloud models can still work on them after the model is upgraded, preventing any loss of data caused by un-synced changes. In previous versions of InfraWorks 360, models were disconnected from the cloud during the upgrade process. Users were required to re-publish the upgraded models, sometimes using a different name or group. The result was that un-synced changes were left behind in the process, impacting users collaborating in a project.

With this new workflow, you can upgrade at any time, and everyone can still sync their changes as soon as they install the correct version of InfraWorks 360. Once the correct version is installed, the application will take care of syncing and merging changes to keep the cloud model up to date.
