Advanced/Fluent Civil 3D User in the land development field here that has been eagerly following Infraworks for 5 or 6 years and *waiting* for it to become the preliminary roadway, grading, and drainage design tool that I see the potential for.
However, besides the roadway improvements, I have very largely been disappointed....for the land development business, I was desperately hoping that grading tools would be created that allow for quick, conceptual mass grading concepts to be created at a fraction of the time....unfortunately these tools have been rudimentary to nonexistent.
recently I found out about Bentley SiteOps that does virtually everything Infraworks does (excepting the bridge designer) and more. Additionally, SiteOps will perform a grading solver that proposes a balanced site based on road and pad design inputs as well as perform residential lotting and grading studies.
I desperately would love to use Infraworks for preliminary engineering, but its grading tools are just not there. Can Autodesk PLEASE place these on the front burner? A lotting and grading solver would be a HUGE boon, similar to the cloud-based corridor solver that Infraworks used to have.
