Traffic simulation

Hi to all!

I just start using traffic simulation option in Infraworks and it is great. I have question about traffic simulation models (Wiedeman, Gipps..): where can I find the parameters of these models in Infraworks (and can I find them at all)? It is important for calibration the model and compare results to other methodologies (HCM, Sidra..).

Thank you for help!

Ammar,

These parameters are not editable using InfraWorks 360 2016.3. One of the goals of the release was to simplify the interface compared to the acquired tool. The screenshot below shows the values assigned to the parameters. These are the standard values recommended by the peer-reviewed literature.

Please let us know if you think it would be useful to have access to modification of these parameters.

Here are two papers comparing those car-following algorithms

Thank you for respond!

I already read those articles and thank you for sending them. It would be great if the parameters of all models can be edit, like it is shown on your picture. Will these options (like on your screenshot) be available on some future Infraworks version?

Basic settings on each models can provide incorrect results, so calibration process is very important. It is the first and basic step for each traffic simulation. Parameters like min.headway and critical gap must be calibrated for every simulation.

Traffic simulation option is great addition, and it is very easy to use. But, it will be even better if there is option for calibration.

One more question (if you can help me). Traffic simulation can't run, it says ''failed''. I attach message log below to see problem. On my autodesk account I have enough credits. I don't know if there is problem with cloud service, or something else? I try with disonnect model and new sync, but it doesn't help. I saw there is similar topics on forum, but I can not find the solution.

Thanks,

Ammar

Ammar,

Could you confirm if your license is an academic one? I got one of our cloud-server technical team to look through the logs for the failure, and he reported that it was because the user type was marked as academic. While our intention is that academic users can run the traffic simulation service for free, without a cloud-credit charge for each run, it appears that at present this may be causing the "Simulation failed" message.

Thanks

Gordon

Hi!

Thank you for answering. Yes, I have an academic license (University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Faculty of Civil Engineering).

I can run corridor optimization, which also, if I remember correctly, required credits. Ms. Dana Judge gave me a confirmation, back in september when I installed a new version, that academic license has all features available.

Thanks for help,

Hi Ammar,

Could you please try it again now? Your account should be working now.

Hello!

Thank you so much for helping me. I just try, and it shows me now that I have an error: Status code 410 and missing vmoptions file.

Maybe it is my fault in model, I don't know. Luckily, now I don't have problems with credits:)

Best regards,

Ammar

Hi Ammar,

It's good to know that your account is working now. And I would like to know the details about your new issue on missing vmoptions file. Could you send me your reproducible steps and snapshots here or to me  (bart.chen@autodesk.com) directly?

Thanks,

Bart
