Saving a project to a server

I'm currently using Infraworks 2015.3.59.0 (non 360 version) and my company wants projects saved on our local server.

In my tests I've determined I can copy and paste a project folder to a server location and can copy it back to it's original location and access it without difficulty, however if I leave the project on the server for any length of time, the project becomes 'corrupted'. The reseller has suggested that this is likely due to the antivirus checker corrupting the data.

What is the best or 'recommended' way to save the project from my local drive onto the server that would prevent this corruption?

I wouldn't copy/paste. I would use the DUPLICATE model command.

Can you please see this document. It allows you to save your project locally? http://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/Infraworks-Force-save-to-local-drives

I hope this helps.

Greetings Sean,

I would like to thank you again for your recent post and for working with me on this issue. We were able to confirm the model that was stored on your server is having additional files added to the InfraWorks model directories causing InfraWorks to view the model as corrupt.

Per our conversation, if you ZIP your InfraWorks project then move the ZIP file to your server for back the issue should not reoccur. Additionally, as we discussed, if you can let us know the system used for your backup processes we can help other customers with this troubleshooting effort.

I have subscribed to the thread though and will continue to monitor it should you need additional assistance. If you would like to communicate directly, you may do so at any time in the next 30 days by either replying to this post or updating the case in Autodesk Account.

Thank you for contacting Autodesk,

Just an update on this - since this issue was put to rest, the IT department was able to successfully back up the data onto the server. It requires me to duplicate the model onto the server, and the IT guys took it from there.

So in short, while I don't know exactly what they did, it is possible to save Infraworks onto the server in a useable form - although I still zip it as well just in case ; )

@Timothy_Sean_Hulbert

Thanks so much for this... We found that a file backup program called HUBSTOR (https://www.hubstor.net/) was creating these little hidden files called ".hubstorinfo" in our directories every time a backup was run.
You can only see them if you tick "Hide protected files" off in folder options in explorer.

Hubstor info files in directories.Hubstor info files in directories.

It creates one in every directory it is backing up and was the reason we couldn't upgrade or change proposals in a project. We kept getting this error.

As soon as i deleted them all it was working again.
Thanks again

Thank you for the update, this is great information. Google Drive was doing the same thing.

Be really nice if we could get infraworks to not read these protected system files.. Or at least disregard them in some way.
