Roundabout tool creating kerbs and verges too high on Upgrade to Infraworks 2019

I have today just upgraded my version of Infraworks from 2018 to 2019 and now the roundabout tool creates the kerbs and verges too high where they join the likn roads.
This happens on roundbouts in models upgraded from 2018 to 2019 and also newly created roundabouts!!!

Hi @Anonymous ,

that sounds strange.
Do the curbs of the roads have the correct height?

Is it possible to share the 2018 version of the model?

Regards,

Karsten.

Hi Karsten.

The model i'm working in is confidential at present!

i have created a new model this morning just to check all settings are as required ie: DMRB UK standards used on both intersecting roads, then created a roundabout instead of intersection.
Same problem again, the creation tool is creating kerb heights for the roundabout 'too high' what looks like the bottom of kerb is set at carriageway surface level instead of '125 upstand' as in ajoining roads! Cross section preview is thro road just south of roundabout to demonstrate correct profile being used.

See screen capture for new model this morning!
Any ideas please get back to me, hope this is something easily fixable!!!

Regards

Dave

Hi once again,

Heres a close up shot of the join of roundabout kerb with main link. clearly the roundabout kerb bottom is at proposed road surface level and not kerb upsatnd level of 125mm!

Hi @Anonymous ,

I can confirm that with a newly created intersection or roundabout the curbs are higher than the the curbs for the road.

I will forward this to the development team for further investigation.

Karsten.

Many thanks Karsten for the quick reply and acknowledgement that there may be a problem with Infraworks 2019. As soon as a solution is found please can you inform me. I now have a model with corrupted footways and verges at the roundabout 'joins' because of the height differences that the kerbs (curbs) are creating!

Kind Regards

Hi Karsden.

Do have an idea of how long it will take the development team to find a solution to the kerb height problem in the intersection / roundabout wizard tool. i'm reluctant to upgrade any other existing models i have from 2018 to 2019 as it causes lots of problems with footways and slip road tapers not converting correctly due to the difference in height that the kerb tops have!

Are we talking days, weeks or months?

This is something i need fixing very quickly otherwise I may be revert back to using Bentley Openroads Conceptstation!

Regards

Dave

Hi David,

I think, I've had similar problem when used battered curbs. Replacing battered curbs with curbs solved problem in my case. Maybe you could try.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I don't have any information when this will be addressed, but will forward any news I receive to this forum post.

The issue is clear, the battered curbs in intersections/roundabouts are attached with wrong eleveation.

I have just tested with InfraWorks 2019.3 and it's the same there if you upgrade a model.

BUT, if you create a new intersection with battered curbs it will generate fine. So, it seem as if the issue was fixed already in InfraWorks 2019.3.

The only way to fix upgraded versions seems to replace the existing road assemblies, see following screencast where I have an upgraded (wrong) intersection and an intersection created in 2019.3. If you create an assembly of the working road and replace it with the "broken" road, it will generate fine: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/6e852649-e232-4a07-9cad-8f78ea7b019b

I will next try to find out if there is a way to correct the curbs during model upgrade.

Regards,

Karsten.

Even easier: After upgrade, change the intersection to roundabout and vice versa to force a regeneration, see https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/c2075fa9-b2c0-4254-8453-912db3805c99
