Why does it take so long to import a Revit file using the Local Import option? Not a very good workflow when you have 32 buildings and it's taking approximately 30 minutes a building.

Is it faster if you export out an fbx file then import in infraworks

I thought it would be, but opening the Revit files has been over 3 hours now and it's only at 34%.

Umm, Huston, it looks like you have a problem.

It shouldn't take long, and I work on large model sets, which are max 30 min.

Are you upgrading the Revit version? That will add time.

If it is a BIM360/ACC cloud model, download it (and all linked files) and open it as detached BUT before hitting the open and if there are worksets, unload the workset that controls the links, cad links, point clouds, IFC and any interiors, anything that you do not want to export.

Unloading worksets will speed things up and hopefully remove the content that has bogged the model down.

If you did all that and are still 35% at three hours. Can you use Navis to open the RVT and export an FBX?
